protect did nothing for you. You scouted nothing since their sets were known (amoongus walls all of Azumarill's sets, sableye walled the other mons mostly). You just wasted turns and set yourself up to get set up on by better opponents.

Protect didn't help you in any meaningful way.
Maybe useful on Heatran and ferrothorn where you want to scout the opponents coverage moves, because they have some very important weaknesses
