It was the Pokemon I used the most during the story, and I tried to complete all of the possible Emerald Battle Frontier facilities with Mawile... I never did end up completing them all, but I certainly tried. (I had the most success with a set-up Swords Dance set.)
It is now my favorite Pokemon, and I managed to swipe the username "Mawile" on a few places before anyone knew Mega Mawile was a thing. When the mega was revealed, I was pretty ecstatic. My favorite Pokemon had become viable.
Sure, there are people that think I am a tryhard who just jumped on the bandwagon because of Mawile's ridiculous attack stat. But I still try to switch it up.
My current setup, (I've posted it here before.) is a speed-invested Mawile teamed with a Whimsicott... Whimsicott is used for utility like outrunning other pranksters with Taunt, and setting up other support. But when I know Whimsicott is going down, I use Tailwind and switch in Mawile.
That way I don't need to rely on Sucker Punch because Mega Mawile suddenly outspeeds everything and just tears everything apart.
