>>23075145I had thought up my own fire-type starter line before Gen 6 came out, inspired by Victini's Fire/Psychic typing. I was pretty stoked when the Fennekin line came pretty close to my idea.
>Merlepine, the Rabbit Pokemon (Fire type)A small rabbit whose long fur has somehow fashioned itself into a long red robe with star markings. It lives in large groups headed by its fully evolved form, Hoppini, and learn how to shoot fire from thier palms.
>Wiccabit, the Outcast Pokemon (Fire/Psychic)The evolved form of Merlepine. Wiccabit's robes have turned black, the stars fading to red, and fur between its ears has fashioned itself into a pointy witches' hat. It also has found a wooden stick Braixen/Delphox style, which it uses for pretty much the same purpose. Wiccabit are shunned by the Hoppini and Merlepine, and probably for the better, as their minds have suddenly become psychically aware, and they need time to learn how to manage it before they are reaccepted into the group.
>Hoppini, the Escapist Pokemon (Fire/Psychic)The evolved form of Wiccabit and the final evolved form of Merlepine, Hoppini's robes have morphed into a suit, although at various points you can see the individual hair of the fur that the suit actually is (that bowtie is FAR too fluffy to actually be a tie.) Hoppini are the leaders of the group of Merlepine, using their psychic and fire abilities to defend them from attack. They are noteable for the use of the move Lockpick, which frees the Hoppini from duration-based attacks like Wrap and Whirlpool. (I'd invented said move just for this evolutionary line of Fakemon.)
It's scary how close I had gotten to the Fennekin line when I was thinking up this one, from the wand to the wizard/witch theme to the final Fire/Psychic typing.
Nowadays, I'd probably make them a non-starter Psychic/Fairy type, adding the Fairy type because for some reason it's gotten into my head that the Fairy type is the "magic" type, not Psychic.
