Psychic these days is really quite a poor typing to have. Gen 6 introducing Fairies and buffing Knock Off has left it almost obsolete. How can we fix it, /vp/?

Consider changing or nerfing moves like Sucker Punch, Pursuit, and Knock Off in addition to type matchup changes.

Fairy is no longer super effective against fighting types and no longer resists them

The biggest problem psychics face is the distribution of these moves.
I therefore propose a psychic priority move would fix at least the psychic megas.
Sucker punch would fail, knock off is weak against megas, and it gives psychics a niche over fairy. Especially in checking mach punch users.
Psychic then stops fearing every mon with a movepool.

Then M-Gallade would have a completely wasted ability. They would need to buff Inner Focus to always let Focus Punch hit before they do that.
And I think a flinch immunity suits fighting types better as they tend to be focused on combat and some shit. It'll probably break them in doubles tho if you need to fake out a fighting threat

Even if Gallade got Justified again it would be better than Inner Focus, switch in on any Knock Off and force something out

Reduce it to no less than 20, that's what it was originally.

Make Psychic-types unconfusable, they're the only type besides Dragon without a type or status immunity

Pursuit and Sucker Punch are fine but Knock Off could use a nerf down to 40 power. Making Psychic-types immune to confusion would be great too.

And while we're at it why not make Fairy weak to Bug and Water weak to Poison?

The massive power boost Knock Off got is probably the biggest reason Psychic types aren't good anymore. If it stayed at like 10 - 20 BP or didn't get the 50% boost in power like it does now, it wouldn't be so much of a centralizing thing.

Having a guaranteed nearly 100 BP move because everyone uses items is rather ridiculous.

You can't justifiably drop Knock Off to 55 BP, imagine Scizor and all other Technician users with Knock Off. I say keep that as it is, just make Psychics immune to Confusion, and give Psychics a switch initiative move like U-Turn. Would make them pretty good, obviously the Dark immunity would reduce its effectiveness but it can be worked around.
