I've always been a fan of the magnemite/magneton line (only just discovered magnezone as well).

What exactly is it useful for? Now that I've started watching matches on youtube, I've noticed some people use magneton over magnezone, why is this?

Magneton has 10 base speed more than Magnezone so it's used as a Choice Scarf user, it doesn't make much of a difference as they only have a 10 base special attack difference too.

That's Magneton's niche. If you already have an answer for those Pokemon though, use Magnezone.
