I have never really been a genwunner. I remember what it was like being a kid back in the days before Gold and Silver released. I can easily recall what it was like looking forward to new pokemon, regions and experiences. I can remember the sheer joy of experiencing those new pokemon, regions and experiences for the first time. Gold was my favorite game in the series for just that reason.

However, looking back while heavily intoxicated, I can now understand where the genwunners are coming from. I understand the nostalgia. I can respect the pure simplicity of the first games. The imperfections that lead people to like those games better. I used to find those people incomprehensible, but now, I can grasp why they are the way they are. And I sympathize.
