And they're already reusing models, since Gen 6's are apparently the same as Pokedex 3D's aside from the filter.

They intended to do that. The new models are way higher in polygon count than they ought to be for the 3DS so that they won't look outdated as quickly as the stadium ones did.

I think it's because Cloyster doesn't evolve further. Both Slowpoke and Shellder still could evolve, so they caused one in each other. Shellder just happens to be able to evolve into something else without it. The question is why doesn't Slowpoke have it's own individual evolution? Now that it has a Mega form, does that mean they were both individually capable of it? There's a whole mess of things that don't make sense about this matter. I don't think the relation was intended to start with, it was just made up for the dex entry. If I were to take the game at face value, the evolution happens without Shellder being involved at all. Just what is going on here? This is why nothing from this franchise can entirely be trusted.

Nothing, because slowpoke doesn't even actually get bit by shellders. That's just a stupid legacy thing from gen 1 because they had no other bivalve pokemon like that.
