It has two very successful Films behind it, a well-to-do TV series, and tons of merchandising.
Its about capturing and training monsters with elemental powers, with a collect-them-all motif, complete with a low-tech encyclopedia that the main character is filling out as he finds and catalogues them.
If they release a pokemon-style game, one where soaring will be pretty much mandatory btw (people liked it in ORAS, they liked it in Skyward Sword (only redeeming feature even), they'll buy it a third time. I'm feeling something basically WindWaker in the Sky kind of deal), they'd do pretty dang well.
It might take a bit before word makes it through the internet that its actually a good game, not just your generic movie cash-in. But that didn't stop Ponies. The more surprisingly something is good, the more is spreads like wildfire when people find out.
So if they made it, and it were an actual, good game not a cash-in, it would hurt.
