I would wait until XY2/Z/whatever to judge them fully but if they don't get more development I would probably say so.
Kanto and Sinnoh are pretty bad personality wise as well but Agatha and Flint save them each respectively.

Phoebe is so delicious. Drake is another cool one. Hoenn had probably the edgiest E4 (Dark/Ghost/Ice/Dragon), which is how an E4 should feel.

I disagree. I hate XY, but I can remember all of the members of the XY E4 while I can't do the same for Sinnoh and Unova.

I mean, Unova has the chick from the Battle Castle, Cynthia and that Dark-type chick, I think her name was Shauntal or something. The was a black guy who I only remember because he had a Flame Orb Conkeldurr without Guts in challenge mode.

Sinnoh has Flint and that's fucking it, don't remember a single other person.

Normally characters almost always use Pokemon with the same gender as their self, barring lopsided ratios. It can't be a coincidence that the male trainer exceptions are always girly and/or flamboyant as fuck.

From what I recall, her Grandparents are from Sinnoh (Possibly Celestic town?) and taught her about Dialga and Palkia, which inspired her to raise Dragon types.
Since this takes place after D/P (unspecified amount of years) she might be the daughter or something of the lady that shows you the opposite version's legendary in D/P, who is also related to Cynthia, meaning according to Deepest lore that they could both be related.

Mostly the elite four are pretty soulless, but Kalos's actually struck me as a lot more memorable than I'd been expecting. Prim chef weirdo who shits himself if you disagree with him, genuinely evil, aggressive bitch, motherly and approachable dragon-lady and Maito Gai from Naruto as a Pokemon-training knight.

Unova's up there too, the only one of them that really struck me as bland was the fighting guy.

Hoenn was ok, Gen 1 and 2 weren't awful, and gen 4 sucked dick. The only thing I remember about them was how stupid the Fire guy looked, and how stupid it was that he only had two fire-type Pokemon the first time you faced him.

Gen 2had the best e4. Period. Karen, love her, or hate her had personality and soul. Plus she is reminiscent of agatha. (Possibly her daughter?) Bruno is just bruno. Will is pretty cool too with the vague tie in with lorelei. Koga is awesome because it shows character development in that he ascended from a gym leader and his daughter took his place. I like lance as a character a lot, and especially in hgss dragons reign supreme. If you dont have a weavile or an overleveled starmie beating three dragonites is definitely challenging. Plus he helped defeat rocket and is just generally a cool guy.

Honorable mention is gen1 elite four just because the champion is your rival. Hes one of the few characters that you really want to beat, and what better way to do it than at the e4 in the final battle.

Honestly besides gens 1,2. All the other elite four members are pretty forgettable, though besides alder and diantha the champs are pretty solid.

That would be gen 2, the majority were just a returning cast of characters that had no personality to begin with, Will is a nobody people fail to remember if you ask them and Karen is only remembered because of the Karenfag meme and by extension Smogon, if it weren't for that she would have been forgotten like everyone else in gen 2.

Kalos stands in the same place but is slightly higher for more, inspired, designs.

Wikstrom is pretty damn good too, chivalrous yet hammy knight. Plus, delicious bara husband. Drasna is a qt, she really guilts you about leaving after the battle and her roots are interesting.
