I'm still iffy about canons just appearing on it, especially when they pop out of the shell like some machine, but I much prefer this design and agree with you completely. I was hoping for either a flying turtle or a Poseidon-style one with a luxurious beard.

Then they ruined it by making the final form dragon-like, with four legs and a tail. It's so uncreative. A dragon-type pokemon shouldn't HAVE to look like a dragon; just look at altaria and dragalge for example.

Well the tip of its tail is curly, as if the snail shell unrolled to become its tail.

So...yeah, that's how my experience went down. I eventually grew to like it as the generations went. Its Crystal sprite was fucking awesome! And I eventually got Emerald. I was now disappointed that he wasn't as dark as he was, but now he's purple-er.

By the time I bought White 2, I actually used him in some fights. He was awesome, now! Also, he can now move in his sprites, more so than in Emerald.

By the time Mega Gengar rolled in, I was convinced that my bitter disappointment was but a petty endeavor. He was now exactly what I asked for: A bigass Haunter! Also, he's reached enlightenment with that third eye.
