It's starting to lose its appeal to me. XY was nice, but it didn't motivate me to get back into competitive, and ORAS was absolute shit.

If they don't change the formula drastically within 1 or 2 gens, they're going to become the vidya equivalent of The Simpsons.

I imagine it'll become much like how I deal with Monster Rancher. Though it has long since changed and the designs and monsters are different, I still remember and solely focus on what I knew from the anime. This will always be Monster Rancher to me. I'm sure that should Pokemon just end or do something that I refuse to follow, I will remember that last place I still followed it and act as if nothing else ever happened. I know it's not true, but a lot about these things rely heavily on my own view of it and not the official one.

Especially with the abundance of "HD Re-release" shit. Sure, you can say the same thing about Pokemon remakes but at least with those the mechanics and the regions are brought up to the current generation, as well as containing new features and re-vamping old ones.

All those HD re-releases do is just take a game that ran at 480p a few years ago, and bring it up to 1080p.

Really depends on how it goes out. If it continues this way and just desperately tried to milk the smartphone generation(which doesn't care about Pokémon at all) way after jumping the shark I would probably have a mixed feeling about it. Being glad that it's finally over but being sad that it had to turn to shit before it actually happened.

I actually hopes that it ends soon. So that it can still be respected in my memory. Although being such a huge cashcow I don't think that will happen unfortunately.

Right now Pokemon is this terminal cancer patient that just doesn't want euthanasia and instead of quick painless death slowly rots away becoming a former shadow of itself.

Unless some serious overhauls in the system take it will just continue to rot away.

Both LotR and Harry Potter is practically finished. The original works are all complete. Making spin-offs or transferring to another media really isn't the same.

Also if the Sanic Boom reboot fails sonic will probably be axed sooner or later.
