Mike's team was exhausted by this point; the sheer power of the enemy forces had worn most of them down beyond any practical means of continuing the fight. Serena, Mike's Milotic, was the current frontrunner on the team, mostly due to lack of available replacements. Even having brought in two full teams' worth, and a 13th on top of that, he was down to just five choices. They might not be able to finish at this rate...

Mike was busy trying to cover Paula, one of his Gardevoir, from any further damage; with their opponents throwing indiscriminate attacks around, anyone on the battlefield was vulnerable. Neither trainer nor Gardevoir was in any shape to fight back; they'd have to depend on the team's Milotic to cover them.

Serena continued her aquatic assault with another Hydro Pump aimed directly at the knight himself. Now that he was out of backup, defeating Garland should be considerably easier... assuming he was out of tricks.

Mike had very aptly put it when he said the battle would have been nearly over with had Garland been out of tricks. The knight appeared weakened and all of his allies had fallen, but the power that came to him from the Fiends had not gone to waste. Not at all.

The attacks crashed into his armor with a vicious noise as light enveloped Garland. It was blinding, enough so that he wasn't visible for a solid twenty seconds. When it cleared up, the knight was gone. Where once an armored man had stood, now a shirtless man that radiated power rested.

"It has been some time since I fought without my armor. I hope you will give me a worthy fight."

She wasn't out by a long shot, but she'd been significantly fatigued by the act of fending off such energy streams. The counterattack was equally swift, another Hydro Pump being aimed at the knight. Channeling the pain of the injuries into the black axe, she charged again at the knight in a last ditch attack. Taking his own sword, she threw it into the air towards him at the last second and brought the axe down on it. Now such a sword is surely made from powerful material, but the Aggron's axe was designed to pierce the hide of something far worse, a cheating bitch. So the morphic blade exploded from the force, sending a spray of shattered metal fragments at its former wielder.

Once more Serena absorbed the flames for her friends, the Milotic being by far the best equipped to do so. She was pinned against them in doing so, leaving her a much more vulnerable target. Running out of water as she was, she went for an Ice Beam instead; it was worked for Bakura's Weavile, so why not? [5 now hits Serena in addition to any evens because she's unable to dodge properly.]

What the hell had happened here? And what the hell was happening inside? The sounds of fighting could be heard from within, and in the dim light inside the blasted stone structure, a number of figures could be seen doing battle. But who were they, and why were they here?

Only one way to find out.

"This is where the real fun begins, newbie" she said, grabbing a sphere from the belt of her combat outfit. "We're going to blast our way in and confront whoever is inside."

Metacarpals take shape, followed by phalanges, extending outwards in a skeletal mockery of wings. White noise dances across their surface.

A head forms, a long, grim skull. Its empty eye sockets are turned towards the knight.
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"

From the collarbone of the false Aerodactyl a small stone creeps from its hiding place within the static mass. It begins to glow, but then flickers and crackles as though confused.

The battle for the place had clearly been brutal that was for sure, the broken weapons, broken bodies, KOed or worse pokemon showed that whatever had torn through here had been fought tooth and nail, yet for the amount of positions the enemy held there were still far too few bodies in sight, were they dragged off for a meal, buried under the rubble, or flee of their own will, that could not determined.

There was strange sense of wrongness hanging over the area, the worst of the feeling coming from the very temple itself, whatever combat senses they would have would easily pick up that there was something very very wrong going down here...

The smoke from the rockets still coated the sky and it was clear that whoever fired it was still in action, luckily it looked like whatever remaining troops in the area had either fallen back of hiding, the area feeling like it had been holding it's breath.

Getting closer to the temple would seem easy at first the open stone doors giving a hint to the sight of the smoking flashes of combat radiating from inside.

The rest of the area was silent though and with no clear threats around them it looked like their only choice was to advance on the temple themselves... the battle clearly reaching a crescendo inside.

The final attack by the Dark Knight had been completely unexpected. That blast would likely flatten most of the allied forces, and might even finish some of them off.

If Leila hadn't jumped in front of Mike and Paula to try to absorb some of the blast, it was likely the latter two would be dead; as it was, all three were instead knocked out cold. It had only been due to such an absorption that any of them were still alive, and even so they'd need medical attention immediately. They were unlikely to get it, given where they were.

The attack would barely get through the gap before the massive flash of light would erupt from inside, the force of energy blasting out the doorway in a blinding flash of light and heat, the very ground shaking from under them as the strange mist leaking outwards seemed burn as well, the blast would most likely knock everyone off their feet as the stone pillars swayed, one barely coming down not far from the very entrance with a loud thud.

In the darkness of the now wrecked interior the place was in near complete darkness now, with the door shut the only light seemed to shine down from the cracked roof above and from a small glow coming from further into the central area of the room.

The falling debris and masonry would finally cease after a few moments leaving nothing but a cloud of dust to scatter through the darkness, from the center a sound would be echoing outwards... of clapping.

Dead Pokemon laying on cold steel slabs, their bodies flayed open for observation and documentation. Some of the drugs she had to use caused growths and severe deformities to occur in her subjects. It couldn't be avoided though, over time she found herself desensitized to their suffering. No longer seeing them as living things, but mere objects to use for her own motives. It was for the best though, their organization needed better methods to amplify and strengthen Pokemon in their custody. They needed better weapons, that was all.

Head Researcher Peony grasped a headset that laid upon her keyboard, slipping it on her head, it seemed only right to call in for Hans support to get her a viable subject for adrenal extraction, "This is Peony calling for Colonel Hans Lubeck. Come in. If you should happen upon any particularly aggressive Pokemon in your mission, could you bring it into my laboratory? Please?"

Mike was still trying to figure out where exactly he was, and how to escape. He had quite a degree of freedom of movement that he normally lacked, and the fact that he could pass through what looked like the Distortion World told him he wasn't dead... yet. Magic. Hans refused to believe that it was something humans were capable of, something relegated to childish fairytales. The gods, certainly they had their fair share of incomprehensible powers, but humans had their human limits. All his life, Hans had believed this.

Yet the small man and his cohorts showed a remarkable ability to exhibit things that any sane human would define as magic. An ordinary Spiritomb was incapable of employing healing moves the way this one did. It defied explanation, leaving the Colonel only able to assume an otherworldly explanation.

However, their unconventional ability to break the laws of this reality proved quite useful, as the healing magic brought Stahlos back from the brink several times in this campaign. Begrudgingly, Hans was thankful for their strangeness, for without it they would not have lasted as long as they had.

The moment the clown appeared, circus music began to ring in the Colonel's ear. His imagination, he assumed. Still, for their final enemy to arrive before the party had had a chance to heal and ready up was worse than the worst of luck. Dealt numerous severe blows to their fighting strength by the battle with the dark knight, the party had few remaining options.

"I don't know what the fuck you're up to" he said, motioning for Stahlos to cover the downed member of the party "But I want answers."

Once Stahlos had taken a defensive position around Mike, Hans motioned for the mage to take the satchel of healing items from Bakura. "See that he" pointing to Mike "gets back on his feet."

"Start talking" he said next to Bakura "What did he mean by that?"

The strange figure looked towards each of the ones in sight, his position just under the temple over hang keeping him out of the line of sight of most onlookers. "So Lorenz herself, what a delightful surprise..." The man's expression showed no fear, just a look of eager anticipation as the dark energy around him seemed to spread even further, a chill wind surrounding them all as the skies themselves seemed to darken.

The shadowy figures would soon be in full view a strange cracking sound as if thunder from a far distance echoing as the holes in reality slammed shut, revealing an array of strange monsters, machines, and things that couldn't even be defined. To make matters even worse the still corpses they had passed would slowly rise to their feet, an inhuman gurgling groan coming from their throats as they turned towards them, a still holding the weapons they owned in life.

"Let us begin then."

He'd order causing three of the machine like figures to suddenly fire a small wave of energy around them as a trio of lizards began crawling closer to them everything else mostly hanging back either preparing targets or something worse.

Hefting to his shoulder the impressively large M240B .30 caliber machine gun that was slung over his back, Banno opened fire on the undead enemies. Bullets pierced their bodies, only to pass through with no sign that they had damaged the enemy. "Of course, they're only going to die from headshots, aren't they?"

A zombie's head exploded. The larger man stared in shock, before realizing that his smaller comrade had blown its head clean off with his 12-gauge shotgun. "Need a hand there big guy?" Davis asked. A huge, dopey-looking grin was plastered on his face as he spoke, completely oblivious to the impending threat before him.

Banno gave no reply. The entire scene was too unbelievable for him to say anything.

"Stop goofing around you two" said Ishikawa, as he directed the trio of Metagross into combat positions "We've got to get this infestation under control."

"Right" replied Davis. "Big guy, suppressing fire won't do anything to these guys, so I'll need you to drop the MG and bring the pain the old-fashioned way. Ishikawa and I will pull back and give you cover."

"Roger" came two replies. Back over Banno's shoulders went the .30, and in its place, a large purple monster was sent forth.

"Alright, let's see how you bastards like this" he said. "Nidoking, put the hurt on those bastards! Use Earth Power!"

The massive purple kaiju roared, sending shockwaves of energy towards the zombies as Davis and Ishikawa began to pull back. Great surges of energy began to burst forth from the soil, smashing all in their path.

The shot would fire into the hovering disk that seemed to float closer to the center of the field, the bullet making a fortunate weak spot in the armor to punch through, the machine slowing to a stop in the air as a crackling noise of static came from it.

The second merely kept going on even as the aura sphere smashed into it, the monster's thick armor buckling a little leaving it a little dented as well, but in far better shape than it's double... Either way it pressed on it's odd mechanical arms suddenly coming out as it moved to face off against it's nearest two opponents.

The two machines would stop as they reached their designed height, the damaged one struggling to move it's arms into firing position even as the second finished it's targeting, each robot suddenly shouting "YOU'D BEST BE FROZEN!" The twin blasts of blue energy shot forth at a speed too quick to dodge, the first blast nailing the Nidoking the moment it's attacked ceased while the second seemed to cover over the Mecha Dragon at a speed too quick for the heavy lumbering monsters to dodge, the effect hitting near instantly as each pokemon was covered in a thick layer of ice.

Behind them several of the other creatures climbed down, two spider tank looking monsters that seemed to be moving into firing position, some that looked like a horned Machoke who had been given a train load of steroids, some beings that seemed to dart in and out too quickly to be noticed, and even what looked like some kind of armored walkers being driven by a soldier wearing an archaic uniform and a focused expression.

The crazed Mage would step closer slowly, a small fireball appearing in his hand which he'd begin juggling as he'd look from each of them.

The clown's fire ball would seem to bounce for place to place as he kept walking, the man only paying a little attention to his surroundings and the plight of the White Haired Thief king.

But as the item back was pushed to be dragged backwards the fireball would be launched underhanded towards the bag of items just as the others made the attempt to move them behind the steel snake pokemon.

Nodding in affirmation, the pink-and-blue wonder transformed itself into a stream of digital information, racing towards the machine that had frozen its teammate.

Leaping into action, Bisharp made a beeline for the closest grouping of zombies, getting right in the middle, before swinging its arms like a street brawler.

Fortunately for all involved parties, the closest target was the frozen form of Nidoking. As it was also the tallest, it was only natural that the lgihtning strike would arc towards the purple kaiju. Breaking off the meteor bombardment, one of the Metagross returned to the fray to act as a shield for the oncoming bullets. If the Metagross could, it would have returned fire on those nasty zombies, Sadly, it had already attacked this round. But mister Banno hadn't!

The sudden suicidal rush by Mike left the clown staring at him in a bit of delighted mirth. "So he leaps to his demise so quickly!!"

The flaming attack bounded off of Stahlos' hide, leaving it noticeably singed but no worse for the wear. However, that was likely to change. The party desperately needed the chance to regroup and recover before the flames broke through Stahlos' defenses again. Only two options presented themselves to Hans. The massive burst of energy would go through cover like it was tissue paper, the attack itself apparently doing nothing to anyone it touched on the outside, but the two steel pokemon would soon feel the obvious effects of the beams if they hit, the blast of radiation nearly blasting their systems and hardware before vanishing as fast as it came, showing the horrible evidence that, somehow, some way, these tanks were nuclear powered.

Well, this was just wonderful. Trapped between the insane clown who knew how to manipulate his memories of the ancient past, and an insane split personality controlling the knight who knew more than enough to manipulate him based on his present life, and just how much Marik meant to him. The past was in the past, and while it still haunted him, the present was more effective. Hopefully Kefka wouldn't figure that out.

Kefka probably didn't even have to do anything more thanks to Melvin not helping in the slightest, and he lunged at Garland the moment he could move, lashing out with a burst of shadow magic based energy.

Paula needed a moment to get to her feet, the Gardevoir having just been revived by the Black Mage's team. -Thank you, dear... I thought I had the strength to withstand all that, but... they were just too strong...- She'd need considerably longer than a moment to regain her confidence.

Leila was back up almost immediately, the Wigglytuff having been assisted by the Black Mage directly. She was disappointed herself, but was quicker to recover her fighting spirit. ~Wigglytuff!~ Raising an arm to the Black Mage in gratitude, she was ready to keep going.

"Uh... Wait, what's going on with Bakura, exactly? And what's Garland doing?" Mike had been focused on making sure his team was back on their feet, trusting the remainder of the party to hold the line temporarily. Clearly the clown hadn't allowed that; only the Colonel's intervention had even temporarily evened the odds. "...Just how much did I miss while I was out?"

For the moment, the battle had turned against the UN team's favor.

The flying disc's control software booted Porygon from the system, forcing the digital wonder to resume its normal form, where it immediately fell victim to a well-placed electrical attack. Bisharp too, was struck by electricity, though as before, its vest offered some measure of insulation against the shocking strike.

Both, though, had means of counterattacking, and for the moment, the robots were a greater threat than the zombies.

"Bisharp, hit the..." Davis blanked on what to call the target. "Hit the flying disc-thing!" In the end, he stuck with something simple and descriptive.

If one were to assume that the robots were steel-typed, then that would logically follow that they possessed a weakness to fighting-type moves, meaning that for Bisharp, a strong chop would be the best means of attacking the target. It leaped into the air, performing a chopping strike against the floating foe.

I'm pretty sure that making your tanks nuclear-powered is in direct violation of some nuclear treaty or another, can't be assed to find out which one right now. The fact that the tanks were walking nukes was something that went unnoticed by Banno, Davis, and Ishikawa, but not by the Metagross or by Porygon.

'Humans, watch out!' the Metagross wanted to yell. 'These tanks are nuclear-powered!' but again, they possessed no mouths with which to do so. Porygon-Z, similarly lacking a mouth, was fortunate enough that it had other means of conveying the message to its master.

"What? Shit" was all Ishikawa could say to the news relayed by the pink thing. "Guys, bad news. Those tanks are nuclear-powered."

"What?"

"You're kidding, right?"

"Afraid not. We've got to find a way to contain them, and fast."

"Right. Leave it to me" said Banno. In a flash of light, the frozen titan was gone, replaced with a trio of tiny brown moles.

To be completely fair, Chermaine wouldn't be half as pissed about the current situation as she was, if that surprise strike hadn't virtually killed her favourite 'mon. She had already lost it once, in a battle she had never wanted to fight, and now, this stupid fucking golem come out from nowhere and smashed its fist into her dragon's chest.

See, the torso plating wasn't just armor, it was also a protective shield for the respirator that kept Hydreigon's injured lungs functioning. Now, with the respirator components destroyed, along with the baseplate that kept the central head attached, there was nothing keeping the dragon alive. It had survived this long thanks to the wonders of Silph technology, but the only people who would know how to fix the broken wreck were either dead or rotting away in prison.

She recalled her broken dragon, praying that there was still a sliver of hope that it could recover. Even if that chance existed, she had lost her strongest party member.

"Sen-O, can you see where that attack came from?" she asked into her radio, clearly trying to refrain from screaming long enough to contact her sniper.

Now, what to do about the golem? Chermaine had several options that could deal with the enemy, but which one could deal the most hurt? Assuming it was equipped as she predicted it to be, there was only one choice.

"Go, Mamoswine." Forth came the frosty mammoth, whose massive tusks just barely touched the golem's chest, even from a distanse.

"Ice shard."

Between the mammoth's tusks formed a sphere of near-absolute zero, from which a barrage of ice came flying, crashing into the golem.

A smoky red figure slowly forms in the left of Bakura's peripheral vision, while the knight-puppet backs off from the flame and shadow. A second, purple smoke figure forms to his right. The figure of Marik on the floor slowly melts away, and the scene changes. Now Marik sits shirtless and crosslegged on the floor, intently staring at a laptop. Bakura is sitting a little ways away in his office chair, a suspiciously coverless book in his hand.

"When was the last time you were happy?"
"The last time you felt whole?"
"Would you like to go to that place again, Florence?"
"With Marik separate from Melvin, you finally had him all to yourself. You were the hero. You saved the day."

The scene changes, Marik lying on a hospital bed with machines hooked up to him.

"But someone else... got in the way."

There is a burst of light and a crash of gunfire, as a bullet rips through Marik's leg. Looking towards the source of the shot, where the cultist had been moments before, Bakura finds a man standing in the dark, his glasses glinting in some unseen light. A smoking gun sits in his hand and he looks coldly at Marik, who is squirming in pain.

"He stole your victory."
"Marik may never walk again unaided..."

The weird bird savant waddled a bit forward in front of Krizalid, zapping the Golurk with a visible ray of pink. The Golurk's injuries began to heal as the ice shards were pushed out onto the ground, giving it renewed vigor to punch the gigantic ellyphant to death.

Some people had, on numerous occasions, told Sen-O to use something not quite so cumbersome as the Barret M82A1M, but the Chinese man just plain refused to listen. Breaking off the attack once again, the duo of Metagross who had been exposed to the gamma beam used their bodies as shields to protect their masters from the bullets. They took minimal damage from the bullets, however, the gravity bombs dropped by the enemy tanks proved to be far more devastating, and the two were brought down to the shortest sliver of health.

That wasn't the only thing strange about this man. His Golurk had taken far more damage than one would assume it capable of, and yet it was still standing.

Another ice shard would just have to do the trick. If it didn't, then someone was hacking reality hardcore, and it would likely be up to Ishikawa and his Porygon to un-fuck reality. If it wasn't needed for *that* before that happened.

Chermaine was hesitant to use *that* in part because it practically violated every single international anti-Silph law on the books, and part because, based on the intel they had, these guys didn't care if the world broke. Still, GötterDämmerung was a possible, last resort option if all else failed.

She really hoped it didn't come to that.

Oh, right. In addition to one member of the party being attacked by another member, they also had Occult Hitler to deal with. At least he has stopped using fire attacks, and had stopped targeting Stahlos long enough for the snake's leftovers to restore just enough health that it could keep up the defense. And still, there were plenty of rocks left to be thrown, so it looks like the snake was back to that once again.

His Ka was working overtime, trying to assist the Gardevoir, while also keeping its master either calm enough, or distracted enough. The Aggron started to charge at the gigantic elephant as he himself decided to go after that heal pulser in the distance. He ran with a speed not usual for a human, going to investigate what it was by getting closer and firing another purple blast from his hand. The Porygon-Z used Tri-Attack to zap the distance to lure the snoipah out.

The clown had come back, earlier than expected and with a devastating shot on top of that. "What? Already?" Paula had her hands full, the Gardevoir busy trying to play therapist and keep a modicum of attention on the battlefield at the same time. She needed to get Bakura far enough out of despair that he could at least function; she was having little success so far, but she was close to a breakthrough. -Whoever's doing this is relying on a single painful memory to win... Mr. Bakura, you must fight it! Show us that you are no longer bound by the past and work to make the future right!- She couldn't stop him from reliving it, but maybe she could break through with her voice to remind him that reality still held sway.

Mike himself had just barely spotted the remaining Garland at the back of the battlefield. His sword was out... Wait. Oh no! Not on his watch! "What the hell do you think you're doing?!" Rushing back toward the Knight, he put a shoulder forward to try to Tackle him out of the way. If he was unable, this would spell trouble for both of them. The fog started to clear from his mind. The visions were still there, taunting him. The robot that wasn't nuclear (presumably) would have to fall by some other means. To that end, the large man called forth a massive dragon, blue with crimson wings and a white, armored underbelly.

"Salamence, incinerate that floating robot!"

The dragon took to the skies, before raining fire down upon the aggravating little floating disc.

Ishikawa, recalling his fainted digital blob, was left to ponder how best to deal with the nuclear-powered tanks. Trying to trap them under the earth hadn't worked, and obviously, beating them to a pulp wouldn't work without causing more damage than was acceptable. despite knowing it to be disadvantaged in this fight, he had no choice. "Gardevoir, get in there and try to isolate their nuclear components!" he yelled, calling the green-haired psychic to the field.

Now, nuclear disposal was not exactly the psychic's strong suite, but every radioactive isotope gives off a particular energy signature as it decays, and Gardevoir was able to work with that to determine what was required. Readying itself for the inevitable energy struggle that was to ensue, it fired a psychic blast at one of the tanks.

Fucking Occult Hitler healed himself of all the damage he had just bean dealt, and now the fucking clown was back, bringing with it a devastating attack that, once again, broke through Stahlos' defenses. Given the infighting that had broken out in the party, it seemed that there was no way left to win, no hope of victory for the party. For a brief moment, the Colonel debated whether it would be worth it to turn himself over to the clown and beg for a swift death. It wouldn't be honorable, but he would at least be reunited with his wife and daughter.

That's when he saw it. It had been a feeling he had gotten when he first saw it enter the fray, a nagging sense of desire that, in its absence, he had all but forgotten about. But fate had a way of making clear the right path, and Hans was confident that this was the right path.

Paula had been unable to defend herself against Garland's advance while she was helping Bakura break free of a haunting from the past; Mike had had to step in, and now he was paying the price for it. She had to think fast; Bakura's other half had given her the gist of what was going on, so all she needed to do was to get into Garland's mind. In a moment, she had the information she needed regarding how to stop the knight from going any farther; now she just needed to make sure she did it right.

Garland stops as he's about to plunge the sword into Mike's chest, looking up at the phantom voice. Two eyes behind his harden, but the Gardevoir's effort is enough to get what she needs.

"I'm not..." the knight pauses, looking at the sword and at Mike. "I'm n-not a.... knight of Steve?" The moment the words are uttered, the spell is broken, and the knight drops Mike to the ground.

Standing before the Colonel was Garland's beast, the spirit guardian of the volcano. Heatran looked displeased with just about everything it saw. People that had fought it, beaten it, still standing, still defying. A new master somehow standing behind him, too. Looking around, the fire deity saw the remains of old master's armor, bearing scorch marks from the explosion that had destroyed the knight's body.

"Heatran, listen to me" said Hans, not entirely sure that the creature would listen. "Your old master is dead. Obviously, there's more pleasant things than being ordered around by a former foe, but I need for you to listen to me."

Well, this new person *had* healed the spirit, and old master was gone, so maybe...

"I understand that you're mad at them for defeating you, but what's done is done. If need be, I'll let you take it out on them once we're done here, but right now, I need you to help us win."

That cinched it. The spirit of the volcano was proud of its power, and woe betide the fools who would try to shame it in defeat. It would have its revenge, and for the time being, it would cooperate with the new master, and see to it that the day was won so revenge could be his.

Not sure of what attacks the deity possessed, Hans would have to let Heatran itself make the judgement call in determining which attack to use. With a great roar, the volcano spirit unleashed a torrent of earth and energy at the imitation Hitler.

Leila was momentarily puzzled by the lack of a counterattack. Did the clown think she wasn't strong enough to be a threat? She'd soon fix that, the Wigglytuff aiming another Ice Beam at the Togekiss mount. It couldn't be allowed to regain its strength... [0 freezes.]

Paula had done her best to help the Black Mage's Spiritomb recover... and then she'd seen the clown's attack. -Oh my... It's up to me, then.- The Gardevoir would have to be the one covering the team's medical assistance, at least until others could step in. The spear wielded by one of the cultists had given both Bakura and the Black Mage deep injuries, but she could cover only one of them with treatment... and the choice, at least for the present, was the Black Mage. [Once more, delayed healing; if she has potions BM's getting one. Sorry Bakura, you'll have to wait until next turn.]

That their strongest healer had been barred from healing was not a good omen. Few were in a position to do anything, and should one or both enemies decide to focus their attacks, it was likely that the party would be even more screwed than they currently were.

"Pass another heal my way!" Hans shouted to... To anybody capable of passing heals. "If I can get Stahlos back up, I can cover the Spiritomb until that taunt's worn off!"

However, until someone actually passed a heal his way, that kind of talk was nothing more than bluster. Currently, all Hans had at his disposal was the proud and angry volcano spirit Heatran, which the Colonel had commandeered from the ruins of their previous foe, the evil Garland.

The way back was blocked, and the only way forward was through the clown and his Occult Hitler minion. So attacking would have to do for now.

"Heatran, hit them again!"

Energy welled up from deep within the belly of the volcano spirit, causing Heatran's underbelly to shine like the sun. From its gaping maw it fired a bolt of energy that crackled like electricity and smelled of ozone. The target? Once more, Occult Hitler was the focus of Heatran's ire, and the bolt of energy arced from the deity's mouth to target the führer.

Mike had just barely received the medicine bag before he'd had to duck a mischievous Sableye. He was fortunate its timing was just a bit off, giving him just enough time to drop a Revive on Lubeck's Steelix. He'd have to hurry to get back on track, glancing around to see who else needed patching up. Given that he had the opening, and given what the clown had summoned as reinforcements, his next stop on the recovery train was to pop a Revival Herb onto Jeff, his Magnezone.

In the meantime, Paula had managed to grab the main stock of healing items; the Gardevoir would have to fill in while the team's primary healer was out. Of course, she'd tried to patch the Black Mage's injury up as best she could, though a Hyper Potion would only go so far. Given that Bakura had also gotten stabbed by the enemy's spear, he'd be the next to get such medicine.

This left Leila to maintain the offensive against the clown's team. The Wigglytuff had taken out an opposing Togekiss so far, though now she had a Sableye to contend with. Having no moves that worked particularly well against a 'mon like that, she switched the temperature to the other side of the thermometer, as it were. Some good, some bad. Mike had been able to successfully drop a heal on Stahlos, but the Spiritomb the iron serpent was to protect had already fallen victim to the enemy's scheme. Tricked into receiving an item it couldn't make use of, and now forced to do nothing but struggle itself to death.

However, with the party's shield back to proper form, the gang of four now at least had some measure of protection as heals were dolled out to the needy, in preparation for the eventual counterattack.

In a flash, the iron wall Stahlos had returned to the field. The fires of rage shone deep in the snake's eyes as it saw that the Occult Hitler it had worked so hard to crush was still standing, and that damned clown too, had not been dealt with yet.

"Stahlos, cover the Gardevoir that's passing out heals!" Hans commanded. Nodding, the massive snake made its way over to Paula to act as her escort and shield her from the enemy.

That left, once again, only Heatran to do the Colonel's heavy lifting. Hopefully, in another few turns, that would no longer be true, but there were higher-priority targets than Metagross or Stolloss at the moment.

"Heatran, the führer is weak" Hans called. "Finish him off! Do it now!"

Nodding in affirmation of his new master's command, Heatran let loose another blow of earthen energy at the Occult Hitler.

The flames would rake across the Gem eyed creatures hide, the creature making no sound as it waited for the flames to pass, it's sudden counter causing the icy strike to go wide as it scrambled up the side of the steel snake, the pokemon flipping over it to come in at a dive towards the Gardevior and the precious healing items she carried.

Stahlos found itself mildly perturbed by the skittering imp upon its back, but as it was not attacking it paid the jeweled specter no mind... Until it made a lunge for the serpent's charge. Up went its great iron tail, swatting the creature aside before the attack could connect.

Utilizing a maneuver it had made use of many times in the last battles, it set its body up in a defensive line around the VIP, while launching a sidelong attack towards the Sableye with its free tail.

Mike himself had just gotten out of trouble, and already he was back in it. The clown wasn't really leaving him many options, was he? He'd have to choose carefully who the next revival target was... "Hey, Bakura! We could use your star's help out here!" It'd have to be sent out before he could drop medicine for it, but that combo the Articuno was packing was devastating if they could get it rolling. [Once more, delayed action; Revive dropped assuming the call out is made.]

Paula had just barely managed to evade the approaching Sableye, though she knew she wasn't its target anyway; the Gardevoir knew well enough that her cargo was more important. As much as she'd love to continue providing medical assistance herself, she had a more pressing concern. Rushing over to meet the Black Mage's Spiritomb, a hand was quickly reached out to remove the Scarf currently binding it, the Gardevoir taking that burden on herself. [This won't hurt her yet, as she hasn't actually attacked, though it does take her turn.]

Leila was starting to feel the heat all right; the clown had finally gotten her. She wasn't exactly feeling well, but she could still fight; as such, she continued to focus on the Sableye, throwing out an Ice Beam this time. That had to be stopped before the team could make any more progress recovering. [0 freezes.]

A bird, perched itself atop Archer's shoulder. Where it came from, the azure-haired executive couldn't tell. From the outside, perhaps? Or loosed from the personal storeroom of some nameless grunt?

Archer studied the bird with intent, as though staring at it would provide the answers he sought. Maybe it would, likely it would not. But until the creature became a nuisance, the executive supposed it could stay.

Still, humorous as it was, Archer couldn't afford having this bird hanging around him all day; he had work to do, and if it was going to keep spouting things like that, it would just get in the way.

The icy blast may have knocked it back, but the thing barely held on, shaking it off before grinning, dodging the slow strikes of the Iron snake, even with it's revival the snake's strikes were predictable as it'd dodge between them, using it's own momentum to make one last flying leap towards the Gardevoir.

The Mime himself would dodge the attempted strangulation before repeating the motion on his own on the mage, throwing the Black Mage into the path of the Houndoom in the process.

The mage would bend down to the wound to casually lick up the blood with a sneer. "Is that all you have?" He'd look up a moment and then do a downwards motion before facing him again. "You shall be the first to know then!"

He'd fall into a dancing sweep, a strange burst of speed appearing as he'd end up behind Bakura.
"I am... God..." He'd say before lashing out with a bladed strike of his own another burst of pain hitting Bakura's head in the process.

Mike had made sure Bakura's Articuno was fully healed, having given it a Hyper Potion. "This'll probably help clear out the clown's minions faster." Unfortunately, the planned combo would leave it wide open, which would most likely mean Paula would be stuck on healing duty. In the meantime, Mike could at least make sure the Black Mage's Spiritomb was at full strength, using the last Hyper Potion he'd been handed to do so. [Mike's out of in-hand stock after this; he'll need to get a fresh supply next turn.]

Speaking of, the Gardevoir's newly enhanced speed was of no use against the Sableye's final lunge, the medicine bag falling out of her hands. She'd have to spend time getting back on that before she would be ready to further reinforce her team. [No attack this round; she has to pick things up.]

Leila was still on hand to provide backup, keeping up the fight with another Ice Beam aimed at the Sableye. With a little luck, she'd ensure it couldn't interfere any longer with medical treatment. [Once more, 0 freezes.]

Stahlos now stood between the clown, and the boy and his bird. The good Garland rushed the clown, sword shining with wicked energy.

"Stahlos, give the clown everything you've got!" Hans commanded.

Upon returning tot he battlefield, Stahlos had been disappointed to see that very little had changed. But one thing that hadn't changed made the iron snake grin with delight.

There were still many, many pieces of rubble to fling at things.
