Okay,so we all know that Delphox is obviously based on an RPG mage, right? So why the shit is its arsenal of the elements so limited? If only GF did it right and gave it Ice Beam, Thunderbolt, Earth Power, and I guess Power Gem, Air Slash, and Scald, it would not only fit the theme better, but also be an order of Magnitude more useful.
Also, a less shit ability than Magician would be nice.

Surely even a dedicated pyromancer has basic capability to use other elements if the need arises. Ever played a mage in an RPG? If an enemy is immune/resistant to your chosen element, you're fucked if you don't at least know other spells.

Ninjas make use of various tricks to overwhelm their enemies. Hence why Greninja gets various elemental attacks.

Fire Mages, on the contrary, only sticks to fire magic. Hence why Delphox is primarily a fire elemental user.

It makes sense, you're just too pleb to realize it.

But they're not. Delphox only has 9 more base special attack points.

now in some ways, curse goes to woodoo, and necromancy and darkness magic goes to sorcereeses or necromancers. not to forget the healers using white magic.

now here coems the stupid part, arranged from rpg game series, to another, or mmo, all differencial on the usage of mages.

fire mages as themselves, are standard, with their sister /brother, the ice mage.
but later on , in jobs, evolution or whatever they use, gain the powers of the other elements, yet there are always paths to take, what to make and become stronger and what not to.. in this case delphox chosen the fire path /job / evolution, and therefore has acknowledged, the lock of other elementals.

Nope. It's a wizard from DnD, it's all about illusions, trickery, and playing with the mind and senses, with the odd conjuring of elemental forces now and then (and usually things like making a rope burn rather than a magical flamethrower)

It isn't a Square Black Mage reference with Firaga and Blizzaga and shit.

Haven't you played FF1? Fighters are steady, reliable units throughout, the Thief is the strongest class in the game when he prestiges into the Ninja, and the Red Mage seems good on paper but by the end of the game is kind of a waste of a party slot when it comes to dealing damage so you kind of just use him as a gimped white mage.

Greninja should gotten less attacking moves and more moves to do with evasion and hindering the foe.
also should've gotten Color Change as an ability to balance it and make for interesting sets. Also the idea that a ninja adapts to its attacker or blends into the environment once discovered

Dragging birds out of hats is exactly what Delphox does. Just look at most non-damaging psychic moves. They're all about trickery and shit. And his hidden ability pretty much states it.

It's more a medieval magician than a Vegas one. Even the fire would be a trick in some way (though its implied Delphox uses its psychic powers to make all its magic work, even creating fire)

If all the hair in his ears moved to his chin, he'd have a pretty awesome looking beard and he'd be pretty great. His design needs to move far, far away from Braixen and Fennekin in order to look good.

Delphox should've gotten a Protect with the delay of Wish as it's signature move instead of Mystic Flame.
Or have both but make Mystic Flame do increased damage if the foe has an item, as well as burn up the item since the flames use it as fuel.
If Greninja gets two signature moves, the rest should too.

Is that what you, Americans, were taught by japanese RPGs?

Fire mages specialize in fire spells meaning they are most effective with them. They aren't supposed to be retards who are unable to use any other school of magic.

Delphox's design can be fixed by either making its "fur tunic" to look less cone shaped, or to simply make its legs visible. Only that helps it greatly.

To be useful in combat, Delphox needs an actual ability. It has way too little physical bulk for a pokemon that it is weak to sucker punch, and Blaze hardly ever activates on it because it gets killed pretty easily. Magician is even more situational and also pretty much useless.

It would also help it a lot to gain access to Thunderbolt, and it wouldn't be too farfetched for it to do so, since it is already able to learn Shock Wave and Thunder Punch via tutors.

The rest of its movepool isn't that bad. In fact, Delphox can run many different sets. The problem is that it doesn't excell at anything it can do, and it is outclassed by other fire types or psychic types.

Also, it really hurt it the fact that the Psychic type itself got pretty much outclassed by the Fairy type (Delphox would be much better if it were Fire/Fairy, although that wouldn't have made a lot of sense, I think).

Hopefully, whenever Delphox gets a mega evolution, it'll gain an useful ability, along with the correct boosts in the correct stats (a.k.a not getting unnecessary points in attack like other special based mega evolutions got), it does have the potential to be a good and versatile Pokemon.
