Why were shiny Pokémon ever introduced?

Knowing how many fans suffer from OCD or autism, does anyone else think it's extremely cruel to introduce something with 0.0122% chance of occuring?

You realize the EXACT SAME THING can be said for IVs?

Hmm, maybe the reason it was implemented in the first place is to replicate genetics in the real world, where there's a very small percentage chance that you could be born a little different.

To show off the all new colors. But since they wasted all their space on unown they decided to only have 1 alternative color set each.
