Shuffle has brought in more money so far than complete-release spinoffs like Mystery Dungeon, Colosseum and Rumble Blast, I think it's obvious they want to "modernize" their way of making a profit. Is this the most ethical way of making money? No. I don't support microtransactions but from a business standpoint it makes sense.

And I'm sure Nintendo loved the smash success of Shuffle after all the downloads and transactions that they supported the next Rumble game to have the same method of payment.

The only reason Shuffle and Rumble are F2P is because they are mostly reused assets, which means development costs were low. It doesn't really matter if most people don't pay a dime as long as some do.

I don't think F2P is inherently cancerous, just the way it's been used recently. They just need to realize not everyone is going to drop hundreds of dollars on one game and make sure everyone has a fair and fun experience whether they spend nothing, 5 bucks, 50 or 500.

No, the awful kind of F2P games are the ones with hard paywalls and levels that are literally impossible without putting real money into the game. All of the content in Shuffle, including the regular DLC levels, is reasonably accessible without putting a dime into it.

That doesn't lock you out of any content. You can play literally everything the game has to offer with patience. There's games where you literally can't progress or have any good equipment without paying. All you have to do here is wait.

When I play a game, I want to be able to play the game as long as I goddamn want.

If you paid $5 or $10 or whatever to actually own the game and have unlimited plays, that's reasonable, but don't fucking expect me to pay money every time I want an extra stage otherwise I can't play for hours.

That's why I can't stand microtransaction bullshit. I want to pay for a game ONCE and that's it. If I buy DLC, it's also permanent content that I only have to buy ONCE.

I'd rather rightfully pay for it.

Rumble's probably dead and won't get any games that aren't F2P, I can no longer wish for a new spinoff without fear that they turn it into F2P and I have to spend $.99 to get a second chance at capturing a Pokémon in a Ranger game. F2P is going to kill the series for me if they keep forcing it into games and making them full of microtransactions.

Do you not have other games to play in the meantime?
This is a casual as shit game that's meant for playing in 5 minute bursts, sitting and grinding for hours wouldn't even be fun.
I play it for 5 minutes and then boot up MH4U.

Shuffle and Rumble work well with the F2P model since they're level-based. The mainline Pokemon games and most other spin-offs (Mystery Dungeon, Ranger, Conquest, etc.) are more story-focused, so the F2P model wouldn't work. They're not going to turn every Pokemon spin-off into an F2P game, Shuffle and Rumble were made because they fit the model and they already had all the assets available from another 3DS game in the series.
