It's the fastest phaser in the tier, making sub/coil/d-tail sets near impossible to stop after 2 turns of set up, which you need ice moves to stop it getting.

It's got that close combat man, best fighting type move in the game, and no type appreciates having it as coverage more than a flying type

Everything else takes a STAB reckless boosted Brave Bird/Double Edge to the face which either kills or severely hurts

if incognito boulders weren't a thing it's probably would've been good OU for gens now

The thing is, the only set that isn't outclassed is the reckless-band set, and if you put up rocks, it can only come in two times before it's killed itself from hazhards/recoil build-up.
I'll admit I'm biased towards it, because it's such a good pokemon, but the UU council cannot stand any threats to stall, despite having several solid checks; hippo (especially with rocky helmet), Physical defensive Ampharos, Suicune, even Mega-Aerodactyl can take a hit.
I just want the bird to be useable

So Smogon tiers are allegedly decided through 'usage' rates. Yet BL and Ubers is decided through whether or not a Pokémon is too strong for its tier.
Where's the sense in that? Can't they just assemble tiers based on which Pokemon are decidedly stronger than others? It can't be that hard to figure out.

they both can set up SD's (Crawdaunt can also Dragon Dance) and have access to powerfull STAB priority in Aqua Jet and Ice Shard, means offensive teams are swept and defensive teams are ripped a new one with Knock Off

Although I do see Weavile being balanced in the tier

Actually a lot of people in OU seriously want to ban it to Ubers. It's got a deadly combination of Speed Boost, Baton Pass, Swords Dance and Iron Defense. A physically defensive ID Scolipede outright laughs at any physical attackers attempting to beat it, even STAB super effective attacks, unless they boost alongside it - unless you threaten it with a special attacker right off the bat, you're fucked. Everyone pretty much unanimously agrees now that Scoli was the main reason Baton Pass became so broken this generation and needed the limit, not like that stops Scoli from passing all those boosts to its teammates (the Quickpass strat, basically Scolipede + screens/memento support + misc support + three potential SD/ID+speed recipents). Allowing this monster in UU would be a very bad joke.

When baton pass teams were all over OU, alot of Scolipede ran mental herb.

Tough call since there are a few good candidates on there, but I'll go with Crawdaunt. It's slow and has no bulk. You only lose against it if you're sitting around doing nothing (Playing Stall). Victini, Mega Medicham, and Weavile are awfully tempting too.

Crawdaunt would be a runner up but he hits too hard
Third place is a tie between hawlucha and venomoth because they're both not the best mons but would do exceedingly well in UU which would potentially ruin the tier

As a UU player, I wouldn't mind being able to use Hawlucha's badass self. I don't think he would dominate completely, either. Venomoth would also be an interesting addition to the tier. We could use some Quiver Dance in UU.

It isn't terrible, it's just very inconvenient to use without disabling your opponent's priority mons.

In doubles you can have a teammate support it with Quick Guard and it just absolutely wrecks shit, though.

The problem is that you don't know if it's gonna QD or Sleep powder - if you switch your fodder in while it dances, you just lose a turn and it can pass for free. If you switch in your Veno check or whatever while it Sleep powders, it's a similar situation. I'm not saying I'm an avid supporter of the decision, but "lmoa just sleep fodder" is a shitty argument to unban it.
