I actually use this guy as a hit sponge. Despite having the weakness to ground (and psychic), I think poison is actually a really good defensive type.

He had a decent role in PMD and used by one of the E4, but other than that not much. Better than other Pokemon I suppose.

His model did get fucked over by Flying Battles though. Hopefully we've seen the last of them.
