What's the easiest method to find out your SID?

I used to use pokecheck but it is no more.

What I'm asking is what methods are available for editing your pokemon these days?

It's a long while since I've tried anything like this and it seems like a lot of the online tools are down or no longer work

So to expand on my problem, I want to find the SID in games like Platinum and B2, gen 4/5 —but all of the methods I'm coming across online seem to be outdated and nonfunctional.

How do I find the SID number for older games without using the browser exploit etc. because I'm on an updated 2ds?

So for anyone else looking into this issue, I've been trawling the web searching for solutions on forums etc. Based on all the discussion I'm seeing, it is now impossible to upload a pokemon from your game to any kind of pokecheck esque device because of nintendo official wifi cuts.

Can anyone confirm and detail an alternative method?

Get yourself a good ol' Action Replay, I know there are codes that'll tell you your SID.
I think it's hard to use any other methods due to Nintendo's wifi stuff being disconnected for the previous gens like you mentioned.

thanks for the tip anon —any suggestions as to what will work best with a 2ds on the most up to date firmware? After a quick search I'm looking at pic related, it features goofy unofficial off model artwork on the packaging.

I fucked up by updating blindly before knowing of the repercussions, and am considering selling the 2ds, taking a loss and hunting down an older model.

What decent action replays are /vp/ using with their 2/3ds?

Hmm, a 2DS is all you have?
I don't really get why you only want to hack DS Pokemon games if you only have a 3DS system, but... I don't think current firmware 2DS will work with any action replay or similar device. I'd say get your hands on something like in your pic, and a DS Lite. You can probably find one for fairly cheap, looks like they go for around $50 these days on Amazon/Ebay/etc.

I actually do have an old brick DS will have to dig up the charger though.

My motif is that I've just recently been looking into RNG abuse and wanted to speed run through BW / Platinum with premium 'mons, grab rare shiny mons etc and then eventually bank them over to ORAS

Even better then, hardest part is probably finding an SID code, I know I've used them before for some gen 4 games but they're not often in the common codesets.
Also I'm not sure about this, but there might be a few AR models that are DSi specific, so just look out for that if you're using an old DS Phat model.

Thinking about it, I may actually also have an old back up of the 2ds SD card contents from BEFORE I updated stored on an old hard drive.

Does anyone know if it would be possible to force the system to downgrade itself by reloading the old data onto the SD card?

The old data would be dated around February 2014, coming from a 2ds purchased at the launch time of XY.

The 2DS's firmware is what's updated, not what's on the SD, so if anything you'll just get compatibility problems, not a downgraded system.
