>>23176357What fucked a lot of gen 1 pokemon over was the transition over to gen 2 when special got split into two separate stats. It makes sense to do so, and I would never want that to change, but a lot of pokemon had their special attack stat severely lowered while their defense stat stayed the same.
Gyrados going from 100 down to 60.
Flareon going from 110 to 95 (not the worst drop, but still).
Hypno from 115 down to 73.
I don't know how much things would be different if they could have kept the good stats, but damn, At least you'd have more options with them.
