I love all the gens of pokemon to be honest, but Gen 5 for me seemed to be missing something i don't know.

It's really hard to choose when you consider all spin-offs and movies.

I choose generation one or two.
First generation is just outdated. We have better Kanto in FR/LG. We have improved Stadium and Pinball in other generations. The only thing left is Pokemon Snap which I still adore. Not enough.
Second generation has amazing Crystal and Stadium 2. But that's literally it (if we don't count Pokemon Puzzle Challenge). I love both of these though.
Anime and movies for first two gens are very nostalgic. And actually really good.

Really, the choice would be so much easier if 3rd gen didn't have such amazing spin-offs and movies.

I would say 5 and 6 are next lowest, but I'm way biased since I fucking despise characters (read: "rivals") constantly showing up for no fucking reason. The reason I only put gens 5/6 in this category is because they are the only generations in which multiple "rivals" fight you multiple times (unless you count Wally, but the fight in Mauville is SUPPOSED to be piss easy, to show him that he needs to git gud). Besides, B2W2 and ORAS definitely bring up their respective gens.

Back when they came out they were fun and enjoyable, but now with the way the series has massively improved and evolved since then, they have become completely unplayable.

Gen IV. Both Black and White 2 were good enough to make me not care about the shitty spinoffs.

Sadly enough, Sinnoh is still my favorite region and it hurts to see how much better Gen V was even though Unova itself was shit until White 2.

1 and 2 for a lack of endgame. There was simply nothing to do. Even before we had things like a Battle Tower in the series and couldn't comprehend them, it still felt like something was missing. There just wasn't anything to do except catch Mewtwo.

Gen 3 brought in contests, the Trainer Stars on the card, Frontier later on and was the first game that felt like it was genuinely worth playing past the 20 hours it took to get to the credits.

I tried to enjoy Gen V but I just couldn't find the appeal. There was just something about it that didn't make it feel like a pokemon game. I think that a whole region made with entirely new pokemon was a bad idea. It made everything so unfamiliar.

I believe bringing back older pokemon in BW2 was one of the ways BW2 outshines BW.

Gen 1.

When I first played Red in my preteen years, I was pretty amazed at all the features it had to offer. But nowadays, even the nostalgia factor is not a good enough excuse to hold it superior over other gens; it has literally been outdone in all aspects by the succeeding games.

Favourite gen is Gen V. In my opinion, BW made a better Red and Blue than the original Red and Blue game ever did, and BW2 set the bar high for future games.

Every other generation in the series is MUCH more snappy with battles. I need an emulator with speedup in order to play gen 4 sanely.

I don't see how it was unfamiliar. Gameplay is no different from any other Pokemon game and some Gen. 5 Pokemon were throwbacks to Gen. 1 Pokemon.

Game Freak actually tried to do things a little differently for once with Gen. 5, but this fanbase is just satisfied with the series stagnating and panic at any change to the formula.
