Here we hold a Monotype tournament where you compete to be a gym leader in the upcoming gym leader challenge!
Registrations have been pushed back to the middle of this week, so prepare your best monotype team and come fight people to become the very best.

With this format, there's literally no fuckin' point of running anything other than an overpowered type. You all complain about how dead it is, but this is guaranteed to be the nail in the coffin if you go through with this format. I'm sure I'm not the only one thinking this.

It'd be throwing away the reputation of this tournament. I've been coming back each type because of the format and how each type has its chance to shine with the diversity the tournament promotes and achieves. The bracket tournament takes that all away. There's no incentive to run any other type than the top 5 or so if you want to succeed, let alone win.

In top 18, you've still got the "best" types in the mix, ready to eliminate the "less powerful" types. If you had one of these lesser types, you still had to jump over hurdles in the top 18 matches in order to get a leader spot. If anything, a bracket means you'll have to jump over fewer hurdles once the weaker players have been eliminated.
If you're so worried about it, just come into the tournament with the absolute best in the type you want to run. If you feel like it'd be more difficult, then play your matches really well and win anyway. Don't come in here whining all muh incentives.

Anyways I've said my side so that's all you'll here from me. The main group of people here fall victim to herd mentality anyways, making this virtually pointless.

Ice has Snorunt. Grass has Bulbasaur. Boom, you've already hit a point where it is literally impossible for all types to have an equal chance to win. All types are different, the only thing that has your "chance" to win is the trainer and how he builds his team and battles.

I'm also not quite understanding your example, genuinely. I understand that every type has it's niche mons, but things need to be viewed realistically. Regardless of how well teams are built, they will have holes, and the less powerful types have the biggest holes.

Hell, we have as many fire types signed up so far because there was incentive to be a fire leader since we haven't had one yet.
With this set up, if you want to win, which is part of the fun mind you, you will have far less incentive to run a less powerful type.
I'm genuinely curious to know if there are people who agree with where I'm coming from. I want to see this tournament flourish, and I feel that this is a bad idea.

This is all going to be a little fucked due to the total number not being square, but oh wheel.
All the 'seeds' were shuffled randomly 3 times to generate the brackets. Some people will get a tougher road through depending on where the get placed. If we get two noshows, or three if Austin isn't actually kill, this will be a bit more balanced
