Sometimes I wonder if they're saving it for a second back of Kalos Pokemon in XY2 or something. It's not like they care much about backwards compatibility anyway.

Or maybe they're just making up for how Gen 4 had two of them.

There isn't going to be a "second batch" of Kalos pokemon. Megas are considered new pokemon, and besides, i'd rather have 78 new pokemon than 150 shitmons like in Unova.

The second batch wouldn't have to take Kalos to Unova levels. I've always imagined about 30-50 new ones, making the total on-par with Sinnoh or Hoenn.

Don't rule out the possibility just yet. Southern Kalos still looms over the horizon, and Volcanion makes at least one Pokemon from there that's technically not supposed to be part of the northern set.

Not saying that's impossible but I personally believe it's not likely to happen.

It wouldn't surprise me if they added just one pokemon to make up for the 'pixie' legendary, though.

The possibility is pretty much zero. They've never added completely new pokemon mid-gen, form changes and megas yes but not new species. Compatibility of forms between games is one thing, but new species is another. Which supports the claim they considered megas "new pokemon" for all intents and purposes. 71 initially introduced (minus 3 events) + 28 megas in XY + 20 in ORAS brings the "new pokemon" total up to 119. Plus probably another 20-30 new megas brings the number up to 140-150.

So basically, what you see is what you get and there isn't a second group of unrevealed southern Kalos mons.

I have a feeling that they had an "all 100" spread for the stats in mind, but they probably wanted it to be different since its supposed to be a "mutation" of a non-legendary. Which explains why it's identical to Carbink's spread but with the offenses doubled.
