Solo Blastoise, was pretty easy. I almost did not use items in that run. Only Elite Four was tough enough to use them.
Leaf Green:
Solo Weedle, no evolutions.
This was tough. The hardest gym leader was Misty. I had to grind Weedle to Lv. 45 to beat her.
Run got relatively easier when I got access to Lemonades and Battle buffs. X Attack was my best friend. I beat Blaine using well-timed strategy using those X Attacks.
I couldn't get past Lorelei of Elite Four. Weedle was at Lv. 85 at that point.
White
I tried a solo Snivy, no evolutions, no grinding. I couldn't get past 2nd gym.
Then I lost the cartridge.
