Have been lurking at the /v/, /vg/ & /x/ for a few months now.

It's most probable that I'm still a newfag, since apparently didn't know there was an actual Pokémon section here in 4chan.

I don't want to come over as some mass shill, but at the same time, I'd really like to hear some feedback from the people of /vp/, which is you, for a fanmade elite battle four track I've made a while ago!

If it's good or bad or misplaced or why it doesn't sound Pokémon-esque, I'd like to read your opinion on this!

I really appreciate you doing that. Wolf's Rain has a god-tier OST. It's such a shame that so many tracks are missing.

Yea, it's such a huge shame and it's still very sketchy of why some masterpieces weren't released on a 3rd CD or something like that.

The intro is way too long.
It feels like there's something missing throughout the whole track, but I can't really point my finger on it. Something that would make the battle feel intense, like the BW/BW2 E4 theme.

Doesn't sound that bad, but it lacks power, not to mention that the melody is quite simple and doesn't really do it for me. You have the right idea of what kind of progression Pokemon's music has, but I feel like it could be executed a bit better. Don't take me wrong though, it isn't bad by any means, it's just that it's very lacking right now.

So it's lacking that certain punch and the melody is too simple?

The drums do sound weak, that I do think would be part of the main problem, but it's not clear what you mean with the melody being simple...could you perhaps explain in musical terms of what might be wrong with it?

It's okay but not good. It starts quite nicely and gets boring after a while.
My favourite part is 0:29-0:52. Before it, the music suggest something grand happening. And that's what facing Elite Four is. Then it speeds up at 0:33 to add tension - the battle just started. But after it reaches 0:52 it... kinda dies. It's getting louder but slower.
Elite 4 music must be quicker.

A very similar problem appears in official X/Y elite four IMO.

It has amazing, truly excellent, start but then (at about 0:27) it's getting quiet/slow/meh.

0:16. It's quite calm but you can sense something coming. And then BAM at 0:47.

This is the best way I can describe my problem with your music. I'm not a musician but I love music.

Well, I don't really know much about musical terms because I learned stuff by only listening to it, but what I meant is that it doesn't feel very interesting to listen to, nor it gives an intense feeling like most E4 themes, not to mention that it's also kinda obscured by the background instruments. You have to make it stand out, but also try not to go overboard with the volume. It's kinda hard to explain, but it's better if you have a continuous melody through the piece, like for example Hoenn's E4 theme.

Yeah, I guess I should try to learn more about music theory to be able to explain myself, since knowing it by heart/ear isn't enough to give feedback, but I hope you understood regardless.
