Except Lucario did even worse than what Pikachu was doing. It's bad enough Pikachu was catchable in every fucking region except thankfully Unova, Lucario gets treated like a king for absolutely no fucking reason when it was just a rare Pokemon Riley and Cynthia owned.

Pushing any Pokemon as hard as GF does is just obnoxious. I'm glad Eevee is only a pseudo-mascot and escapes some of the shit.

That's just it, in a series with 700+ monsters, it's near impossible to give equal attention to all of them.

Which is why they see which mons are the most popular, and then pander to fans of those mons.

How to fix Lucario.

Make it pure Fighting with a more natural design. If it's supposed to be a kickboxing fox or wolf or whatever, just fucking make it that. There is no reason for Steel-type, those shitty spikes or sensory and energy manipulation abilities besides Focus Blast.

They attempted the force, but they were limp wristed pussies and made it only appear once in the game. Then they had to backpedal in BW2 but it was too late. Lucario had already stolen its spot back before BW2 launched by appearing in the promos.

I think they tried to make Zoroark a super sekrit club mon, and therefore awesome and cool because you could only get one if you were special, but in the end they just made it irrelevant because no one had one.

well according to my reaserch, Lucario is the jap transliteration of Orichalcum spelled in reverse, it may also be because anubis, pharaohs and other greek characters where all covered in jewels and other stuff
Or maybe it's just a pun with the so called "golden jackal" (canis aureus in latin) which would also make sense since its shiny form is almost pure golden

besides that i don't fucking know, i don't work at Gamefreak
