Hey /vp/, I'm going to buy a 3DS so I can finally play muh Pocemon without being a filthy emulatorfag. The last handheld I owned was a Game Boy Advance. As a hoennfag that has Emerald as my favorite game, I'm pretty hyped for ORAS, even though /v/ says it's shit (on the other side, my pokebros say it's really cool).

Anyway, I was wondering if it is worth buying the New 3DS. Do you think that there will be any Pokemon game exclusive to the new version? Since I don't have that much money to spend, the price difference between the 'old' and new 3DS means one or two games more that I'll be able to buy or not.

Sure, so far N3DS only has a port as an exclusive game, it seems to be the next DSi. even future games are playable on regular 3DS.
I'd say go for what's comfortable in your price range and hands.
Recommendable games: Smash 3DS, Super Mario 3D Land, A Link Between Worlds and Animal Crossing: New Leaf

If Pokemon is all you care about, I wouldn't worry about there being exclusive games for the new 3ds because that would cut out a major part of Pokemon's target audience, and GF wants to make as much money as possible.

Though a new 3ds is worth it if you want to play xenoblade chronicles or mh4 or something else that uses the 2nd control stick. If you don't care about that, though, a standard 3ds should be sufficient.

To add on this, if you care for amiibo, there will be a small device letting you use them as you would with a N3DS. So unless you're really feeling the need to play Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, N3DS isn't worth it at this moment and probably won't be until some point after E3.

Don't be. It's pretty shit.
And if you played and liked Emerald you don't need to play this. There are way better games for the 3DS that are worth spending your money on.

I'm not familiar with the 3DS games, the ones mentioned so far that I know are Mario, Zelda, Animal Crossing, Smash and Pokemon. I don't know anything about Monster Hunter or Xenoblade :/

Monster Hunter is actually really fun, although I haven't played it for almost a month I would recommend it along with A Link Between Worlds/Ocarina of Time 3D, and Animal Crossing.

ORAS is fine. Don't listen to the whiners here who somehow turned what should have been at most mild disappointment over a couple of missing features into "absolute shit." It's not perfect, but what game is? If you want it, and your friends have enjoyed it, then go for it.

For one thing, the game is pretty poorly optimized considering it was released on a 3+ yo console. The game is really damn sloppy as a result (explain to me how are you still locked to a damn grid inside places), graphics are shit compared to most games on the console. The game is really fucking easy even without the EXP Share, and don't even fucking say that the past games were as easy because even the developers themselves acknowledge how easy they made XY/ORAS. Not to mention the fact that they cut out gym leader rematches as well as leave out content from a, what, 9 year old game? The only post game we got was some shoehorned story.

There's a bunch of other obvious problems too. Basically, ORAS was a fucking rush job that should even cost half the price it does. It's not worth the buy and definitely not worth the play when Emerald exists.

Because for one the remake was on a 3DS. It's usually expected of 3DS games to not have graphics worse than Minecraft.
The originals were at least decent for the console they were on.

I'm talking about general engine performances. Shit like framerate drops and all. One of the places where they forgot to put the effort in.

All one hour of it. Where the fights were no-brainers against scrubs, just like the rest of game. And then you move on to the scenes where you continuously press A watching the NPCs talk or so.
And then there's the Battle Maison. Again. Oh wait, it called the Battle Resort, I'm sorry.

These remakes were a major disappointment. I was pretty hyped for this shit too, being a fan of Hoenn. But the lack of effort put into this game is obvious and blatant I'm struggling to hang for the next games. This game has less content compared to the original and the other games on the console.
