>>23200347I found that Platinum fixed DPs problems with pokémon selection to be honest. It adds some more variety, adds all new gen IV pokémon pre E4 (wtf Gamefreak, why was this not in DP?). However, I find it somewhat fun to work with some constraints, as they can make you try out pokémon you otherwise wouldn't. As of such, Platinums dex is pretty good.
As for pacing, I disagree with that as well, but both of these points are just personal preference anyways.
>>23200367So just because there are games that are newer in the series disqualify the game as the definitive experience? I read that as an attitude that would accept anything, just as long as it's newer.
It has enough pokémon to make for a varied game (both pre- and post E4), interesting region, has actual post game (contests, poké radar, frontier, island in general, various legendaries, underground) and in general improves most things that just were plain wrong with DP. Of course that's going to leave a good impression, and can be a better experience than newer games, even if they have more features and pokémon. All forms of art and media are products of their time.
Frontier is up for debate, while it had fewer facilities, the only one I didn't like was the Castle.
