They really need to stop trying to make this into a competitive online multiplayer game when it just isn't one. Keep it as a simple single player puzzle game. These competitions aren't fun, they're stressful for most of the people who enter. Out of a hundred thousand or more entries only 20 thousand actually win. The majority of people are not happy.

That's what this is, except you can't be completely sure what score constitutes 'beat'. These events are an indirect competition. You don't have to react to an opponent or play any mindgames - it's practically singleplayer.

I'd rather know at the beginning of the week so if my score wasn't good enough I have a week to get it to that point. At the beginning of the week I was 64th. If I didn't check again I would have no idea I fell to 2000s. I'm still probably gonna get it but you never know. Just keep it a normal expert stage. There's no reason for these live competitions. They're annoying.

I do, but at the same time im not willing to drop $50 or so on the hearts/coins I'd need to get the team to a level that would compete for the top 20k - I'm only on stage 51 ffs.

This game is a nice way to spend a bit of downtime between college classes, but that's all it is. I'm not going to invest any real-life money in to it, because to me it's not that important.

The best mons for events are all EX stage mons, and you unlock those by S ranking stages.

You need Raikou or Tropius for M-Blastoise, so you either need to S rank 86 stages then catch Raikou in under a minute or bullshit your way through 130+ stages to get Tropius.

Then you need to level them up.

Your body is not ready.

Ranked 37 in EU/AUS here, I reckon we're set. I only had rank ~13k a week before Lucario expired and it dropped to ~18k which still got me the stone.

It seems reasonable that being in the top 2k now will be a guaranteed stone, so being in the top 100 is unquestionable.

It's a trick for timed stages.
1. Make a move and then immediately hit the home button.
2. The game will pause for a second, so look for another move to make quickly (go into game notes to see your bottom screen if you need more time).
3. Resume the game and make that move, then hit the home button again.
4. Wash, rinse and repeat.
Doing it this way keeps your combo going the whole time for a huge score.

I don't always want a challenge. Sometimes a challenge is fun. This isn't a case where a challenge is good. If there's something to win then the easier and less competition I have the better.

But your last point is pretty accurate. I just want to win. Winning is fun, losing is not fun. When I play a sports game I play with the best team in the game and play against the worst team on the easiest difficulty. Win 100-1 and have a fucking blast.

I honestly don't understand how people get like 30/40/50k scores on this. I've used close to 40 hearts on Mega Blastoise so far and my highest score is 13k.

Really depends how much people go all out with items on the final day, but I went up by 5k ranks (EU) just from an extra 500 points. I'm think best thing to do for now is keep gaining levels, might be a good idea to farm gold too as I'm sitting at just over 30k.

I'm sloppy though so I have better luck without doing the home trick, I dunno but when I get a combo going they often break things up my set ups so I'm trying to focus on mons away from the action.

Shame I can't get streetpass hits for my hearts, nobody in this town has a 3ds.

How are you guys scoring higher then 11k on the competition? I'm using the same team the top players are using, and I'm doing combos almost non stop, I know I could be going faster, but even then I don't think I'd get more then 5k more points, if even. My pokemon are only level 5~, so I know that's an issue, but I can't see that being something that would allow me to get 20-30k more points.

The majority of people wont get the stone. Last time I looked there were over 150 thousand entries and only 20 thousand will actually get the stone. Most likely i'm getting the stone because I placed high enough but a lot of people wont be. That's why it's bullshit. My pokemon are level 5, some might be 6. I just did the home button trick and had a sloppy run where I dropped the combo twice and got 16k. You just got to home button and move faster, have the stylus ready to be where you want to move by the time you go back in game

Glalie does high damage without depending on what's on the board, but for stages with a lot of disruptions, his V shaped attack isn't good at clearing out those disruptions. In scenarios where Glalie isn't super effective I think Slowbro would end up doing more damage any ways since he can turn a board with only 7~ mega slowbros on it into a board with 5 mega slowbro combos going off simultaneously.

Capture whatever you can on the normal and EX stages and then home button the hell out of him. You either get 1minute or you get like 10 seconds, there doesn't seem to be a middle ground it's completely unfair to the player.

Yep. Mega Slowbro is basically the best of the best. Ampharos is alright, Gengar is good but replaced by Mewtwo, and Lucario is the other top player.
It's 150 S ranks though. Just do your best to beat Mega Mewtwo Y and then try S ranking the bullshit stages past him. Keep in mind several will require some coins at some stage they're that unfair.

I'd want it to be just like any other expert stage. You have 1 minute to beat it. Win and get the stone. Lose and don't get the stone. You have 1 week. Have a set score you need to beat rather than you not knowing whether you won or not until the last day of the competition. It's stressful.

Level 5 is the reasonable spot to stop grinding for exp on your mons. Your ones with good abilities go ahead and grind more if you want to make them usable longer, like that plant one that clears pokemon disruptions.

Also try the longer expert levels first. The 15 second ones are impossible unless you 'cheat' or are good. I am bad unfortunately. Even with the cheat it took me down to 0 seconds on one of them.

Press home button. It gives a little pause that you can then look at the screen longer for. If you want me make sure you are really good or just didn't see a match then go to Game Notes (at the top of the home screen by friend list) and use that to look at the bottom screen.

Unfortunately, I'm not using Zapdos, Sceptile, and the rest. I don't have the high level pokemon like everyone else. Optimize recommends Slobro, Rotom (normal forme), Tropius, and Grovyle.

Even without the exploit, I'm pretty decent at finding combos and fast too. Damn near cpu fast, but not good enough.

if you are out of stages to complete for the first time then just check in every day for 500 coins, every 10 days you check in you get 1000 coins. Also wait till the weekend for meowths stage, you can easily get ~1500 coins from that

other than this you can spam easy stages every 30 mins for 30 coins but i dont recommend this for sake of your sanity

Just want to add onto this, go to any of the higher level stages, optimize, then come back to Meowth. Anything it gave you is perfect to do the stage without killing him since you get pairs like crazy in that stage. Otherwise all 60+ damage dealers are fine as long as they're not Fighting.

For those who don't know about the home button exploit, I'll explain it again: Press the home button after every move in Pokémon Shuffle's timed stages! It allows you to make several matches in only a second of in-game time! It helped me get in the top 1500 for Blastoise in just one try! Having strong Pokémon helps but is absolutely not necessary!

Isn't more about luck on Raikou and Zapdos abilities? They are who give the most points, but is very random on how they activate.
I tried more than two times (and didn't lose the combo with the trick) but couldn't get a higher score from what I had, and didn't see their abilities a lot on all attempts.

This could be why not many have over 50.000
Some japanese used Megagengar too, maybe because this.

Not really.
There seems to be some probability that makes them more possible if are from a higher match. But even then, isn't totally secure. Try on any stage with disruptions (coins count as them) and even the ones that say "without fail" doesn't always work.

In the end, higher scores on the competitions do have a random factor.

Four times I've spent coins on Onix - The first time I bought a disruption delay, mega start and complexity -1. It escaped. The second time I didn't want to buy another disruption delay. It escaped at 50% catch rate. The third time I just bought a mega start. It escaped from 40% catch rate. This time I bought a mega start and disruption delay. I got great combos and STILL only KOd it on the last turn. 25% catch rate, of course it escapes.

How the fuck are you supposed to catch Onix? Is there a trick? I'm using M-Mawile, Sceptile, Swampert and Lucario. They're all level 6-7 because I've played this stage like a million times already.
