So /vp/ do you think a second Pokémon Craze like the one of the late 90s is possible, or is such a thing a one time event.

If you can, explain why; and if you think that it is possible, when, if applicable would it happen.

Not gonna happen. Not with Pokemon, not with TMNT. The magnitude of it was too big. Look up videos from the 90's Pokemon craze, and imagine something like that happening again. Nothing has been that big. Not Yu-gi-oh, not Beyblade, not Bakugan. Nothing.

the fervor has moved onto more "flavor of the week" type deals. Mostly in the toys to life stuff. Skylanders was crazy popular there for a while, and amiibo are pretty popular now.

sure it's not the same level as Pokemon, but its getting close. Only other thing I can think of that was similar is minecraft.

It won't get another huge boom because it's already a fixture in pop culture and media. It's secured its place, whereas in the beginning it had to go all out to make it through. Even with competitors over the years (Spectrobes, Yokai Watch, Digimon), it hasn't faltered. YK seems pretty big now, and its got the whole multi-media thing going on that made Pokemon big, but now that space is already occupied. It's got its niche.

It's the same for Touhou and Vocaloid. They absolutely exploded, they've secured their place in pop culture and internet culture and whatnot, but they won't seem as "active" as they used to be. Sure, Kantai Collection and Kageru Project (respectively) might be growing in popularity, but they won't be able to secure the niche that 2hu and Vocaloid have filled already.

Pokemon has a negative stigma attched to it post-fad, so no it's not going to happen.

Partial revival might be possible only if Nintendo heavily invests in Pokemon amiibos, especially if they pull off the same trick with artificial shortages and certain amiibos being much rarer than the other (or the super rare shiny amiibos).

Now that the original fans are slightly older, well see mentions of it from pop stars, actors etc, but since GF have refused to move with said fans and have instead tried to look for retarded new ones, a "craze" might be difficult, especially since kids these days move from fad to fad at ten times the speed we used to.

No, it's deader than dead and they keep digging the grave deeper. Major stores other than Toys R Us don't carry Pokemon merch anymore.

Never. Stars aren't going to align twice for this or any series. This had the luck of being the first of its kind AND getting attention brought out to almost everyone by angry Christians. Anyone knew about how "evil" Pokemon was. Everyone knew what Pikachu was. Schools were going crazy with Pokemon card trading and dealing. They had EVERYTHING right going for them.

Kmart and Walmart barely have pokemon stuff. Rite Aid sells pokemon cards and tins sometimes. Gamestop and Target sell the games too. A lot of other stores that used to have a lot of pokemon stuff have shut down, though, like KB Toys.

Never. Part of me want to believe that if we got better games or just more innovation, we'll have more popularity, since that happened on Gen 4 and on the start of XY. I was happy seeing a lot of people hyped for 3D battles, customization and Mega Evolutions, especially the ones who didn't played for years, but it was not enough.

The anime heavily influenced for the popularity back in the days, and I can't see that coming back.

Finally, times change, people change. Pokémon games are still popular, the whole world plays it, but it'll never be like it was on the old days.

The Gamestops here sell both plushies and booster packs straight from a box, just recently they had the exclusive holo Gengar blisters. They even had some keychains or something last I went.

Most places like target and walmart have cards and plushies, and as far as toys go they'll usually carry a few of the figurines or the pokedex thing.

It's almost impossible. In those days you couldn't look anywhere without seeing something pokemon related, mostly because there wasn't much competition. Not to mention kids these days aren't as interested in these kinds of games.

With that said, I doubt there will be any other franchise as long lasting as this in the near future.
