RSE + FRLG + Colosseum + GoD allowed everything to be caught legitimately in Gen III, except some Event Legends.
DPPt + HGSS allowed everything to be caught legitimately in Gen IV (events for Mew, Celebi, Jirachi, Darkrai, Shaymin, and Arceus were present, unsure about Deoxys ones)
BW + B2W2 allowed everything to be caught legitimately in Gen V, excluding some Events Legends (unsure of which, though)
XY + ORAS has allowed everything to be caught legitimately in Gen VI, and some Event Legends have already been released (like Celebi through Bank, or the upcoming Arceus Event).
Gen VI is where it gets weird, though, because every game onward will be able to connect through Pokemon Bank, and as long as Gen VI native Pokemon are released for everything (including Event Legendaries), remakes are virtually worthless now except for a guaranteed cash grab/nostalgia pondering.
