Once X&Y came around, (shiny charm cause I'm a breedfag) I was pretty set on doing a legit living dex, and boy lemme tell you I was pissed when I found out you can in:^)ject one and I already updated my shit.

I have a couple irl friends that play so getting item/trade evolution was actually pretty easy for me
I asked a couple of genners, (back in the days of about 16 months ago when we had plenty of genners around and /vp/ wasn't absolute cocks about the whole thing) for the event mons, I think manaphug and music waifu were the hardest to get my hands on.
I started this, mind you, about a month after XY came out, and I finished it about 2 months after ORAS came out.
TLDR
it's difficult and rather time consuming, but hey, shiny charm
