>>23232169>most civilians just don't want to mess with a homicidal case and are too afraid to shoot, have discharged guns, etcYes and no.
In like 97% of cases or something like that, it's enough to just present a gun to a robber and he'll get out of there because he don't want to get shot.
In the US, it's quite common for people to scare away robbers with guns, but it's less common for robbers to actually get shot at by people they're trying to rob, even less common for them to die, because as said before, robbers don't want to get shot, because getting shot really sucks.
There's definitively the odd headcases out there, even if they're rare.
Though there are those that are acting this out when really high, like fucked up by drugs, a lot of them don't have the judgment to run when a gun is pointed at them, these are probably more likely to be shot.
One nightmare example I once heard about was when a guy completely fucked up on meth or crack broke into this dude's home, and he had decided "this guy must die", and every time he knocked him over he would get up and start moving for him, it ended with him having to beat in the skull of this crackhead with a pipewrench because the crackhead would just not stop. I can't imagine a more terrifying thing to go through. So yeah, horrible things can sometimes happen.
