Yes, they might reach Platinum and HGSS levels.

BUT only of GF will drop the retarded easy and autopikot mode that is basically the ultimate spoonfeeding.
Also not drastically changing the League rematch teams and only adding ONE optional new Pokemon to their original teams, same viable sets as in Platinum and megas that make good use of their abilities.
Aaron: Mega Heracross or Drapion or Vespiquen (pure Bug mega anytime)
Bertha: any ground mega for her team
Flint: Mega Houndoom or Magmortar
Lucian: Mega Gallade
Cynthia: Mega Garchomp

Also GF has to manage to dodge a fuck up for the Underground area, contests, Arceus, Regigigas, Battle Frontier and PokeNav apps. Keep the Defog HM that for once is a useful HM, keep the Mt.Coronet and Turnback Cave difficulty levels etc.

But with two games in a row that have the difficulty of a Facebook flash game and low standards I doubt it will ever happen without victims.

If they remade Platinum with updated graphics and game engine, added all the features that where introduced in gen 5 and 6 (option to use another repel immediately after current one wears off, dexNav, breeding mechanics, mega evolutions, etc...), and updated the movesets of Pokemom to match what they are now, AND DIDN'T FUCKING TOUCH ANY OF THE OPPONENTS TEAM ROSTERS AND LEVELS (unless it was making a gym leader or e4 member have a mega on their team), I'd say the remake would be GOAT hands down.

But Gamefreak doesn't want that, they'd rather have a more casual fanbase. The remake would probably still be enjoyable, but it would just be a shadow of what it really good be if they put some time into it instead of releasing it after a year's worth of dev time.

In all fairness the biggest problem with oras is content. BF is just an example, but any type of battle facility would be welcomed. Platinums BF, Emeralds BF, B2W2's pokemon world tournament were all great additions that provided lots of entertainment. With oras not only did they oit one of the most anticipated features, they also copy and pasted the bog standard streak battle maison from xy with a few new teams. That's taking the piss,and if you seriously think people aren't allowed to complain at this new lazy mindset of 'kids 2 busy w/smartphones so we need no postgame lol' then you're part of the cancer that's dragging pokemon rapidly into mediocre and even shit levels.

I think another remake is not what Pokemon needs. I think a sequel would definitely be better, and try to correct the flaws in X/Y. Another remake would make more show an extreme lack in ingenuity on their part. I would love to see a remake of D/P, but I think a sequel to X/Y is more necessary/more wanted.

Before anyone says "But G/S/C were sequels to R/B/Y and they were in a different generation", don't forget that it was the generation straight afterwards. Sequels to games almost 10 years old wouldn't work.

I agree that some of them were good, but not all gen 4 pokes were the best additions to the franchise anon.

Unless Z/XY2/whatever whips Gen VI into shape and proves Game Freak knows what they're doing, they're going to be awful.

That interview with Masuda that came out recently makes it seem like they filtered out any and all criticism for the game and only told him what he wanted to hear, which makes me think DP remakes are going to have the exact same problems as ORAS.

But here's the thing - has there ever been an interview with Masuda in which he's openly criticised the desicions he made during the development of any pokemon game? Otherwise you could say that all of his interviews have been sugarcoated.
If this is the first time he's ignored any criticisms with the recent entries, then that can't be good for the future of Generation 6.

As to Megaflygon, I really like that one idea an anon proposed a long time ago about it being planned but had to be cut because of the rushed dev time and that's why Aarune gives you a Garchompite instead. The idea just really makes sense to me, I'm not that much of a Flygonfag but it's a good explanation for giving the game three new trainers who have one of the three non-Legendary Hoenn dragons as their signature, and then only two have a Megaevolution while the third still has his own sidequest that ends in him giving you a Mega Stone. The Milotic explanation makes a ton of sense as well.

Part of me is still worried that they just put all those Emerald references in as a "ha ha remember these good times? Man they were great" and nothing more, but the dx/dy in that image just sounds beautiful.

That takes all the fun out of exploration. Getting lost in the snow, finding all those trainers, and that wave of relief and "I did it!" moment when finding Snowpoint was, honestly, one of the best moments in Pokemon.

Goddamn, Platinum was a fucking masterpiece.

I mean you're right that the "I did it!" feeling is nice, but in this specific case I still feel like it would be a bit too much.

I am NOT calling for casualizing it because I don't like that trend, just saying that's not really one of my favorite moments.

Thinking of those snow routes reminds me, what footfag pandering do you think they'll do with Maylene in the remake? Given how much she talks about her feet in Platinum compared to DP I swear someone who joined the dev team that year had a foot fetish.

That whole route was just a straight line lengthened by the marsh/snow overworld mechanic.

It shouldn't give anyone that "I did it!" at all because it was all tedium and no challenge.
