I'm a water fag but I've recently fallen in love with my Mega Lopunny (not literally, I'm not a furfag). Fighting pokemon aren't necessarily my thing even... But I'd go fighting just so I could lead with that beast.

Normal, but it would be a gimmick of virtual reality because my team would have Porygon2, Porygon-Z, and Ditto, with Porygon-Z being the most powerful and being the "signature" 'mon. As for the TM, Tri-attack. And yes, it was a TM at one point, it was TM 41 in Gen 1.

It takes place on a small mountain, with defensive battles inside catacombs where stealth rocks are always setup.
Outside always has Sandstorm up, with the majority of the offensive teams having sand-activated abilities.

If it's a high level gym, Hydreigon or Zweilous would be my trump card. Otherwise, I'd pull from Exeggutor, Doduo/Dodrio, Dugtrio, Magneton/Magnezone, Weezing, Vanilluxe, and so on.

My Gym would be laid out like a ghost train ride. You'd have to get in a cart, and pass through tunnels and beat each Trainer at the other end to progress to the next cart and eventually reach the Gym Leader. Mega Sableye as my ace. My gimmick is being annoying with status' and evasion, etc.

I'd give the Shadow Claw TM.

They're weak to poison, bug, grass, ice, steel, normal, psychic, rock, fairy, dragon, and flying. That's eleven fucking weaknesses.
Offensively it's super effective on steel, fire, electric, and water.
It's a worse defensive type in Inverse than bug in regular battles, and a mediocre one offensively (except that it wrecks Rotom-W and Heatran).

I'd be the fifth gym leader that would be that level curve spike like Koga/Sabrina in RBY. My puzzle would be something like dolphin jumping through platforms, while redirecting them like in Claire's gym (you don't have Surf yet).

Flying type is one of the best types if you want to win.

First off you get a boatload of broken shit like: MegaMence, (all the Genies, Legemdary Birds)
But you also get lots of cool options like a lead Skarmory or Archeops. While plenty of flying Pokemon will also have defog incase the opponent uses rocks.
Then there is obvious choices like Talonflame and Staraptor.

my gimmick would be you need every single HM to solve a dumb as shit puzzle forcing you to fight every person on the way through all 40 of them with lvl 100's right straight through. First part of the puzzle is you lock your self in the gym. forcing you to run this gauntlet with no pokecancer no teleport and no escape rope. Every time you lose the fight you have to start an annoying as shit puzzle all over again. My team would be 6 lvl 100 shiny shuckles because fuck your couch nigga. The TM i would give is TM45. because swag.

The gym would have pictures of Talonflame all over the place, with all the trainers having Fletchlings, Fletchinders and the occasional Talonflame. At this point the challenger believes he is going to get rekt by my six Talonflames, but proceeds to slaughter my mono bug team, which also happens to be mono flying.

My TM would be Acrobatics, because I could not hold all these Talonflames.

Gym is a a movie set based around Kaiju movies with large bug like creatures. All of the trainers are dressed like Bug Kaiju and the trainer has to wear a Kaiju suit to enter the gym.

If they are assertive or aggressive enough to re-open the door, then they get a challenge.

I would offer Magnet Bomb. So I can reward strong trainers with balls of steel for working up their nerves of steel.

My gimmick would be being an in general annoying prick with paralyze, hypnosis, etc, and just in general moves that are infuriating to deal with, such as Perish Song.

I'd instruct one or two trainers to try and have their last pokémon use Perish Song just to be a dick. No trainer will have less than three pokémon, and they'd all have at least one Super Potion.

Level tiers would be 30-40 for trainers, 40-50 for me. I'd have five pokémon just to draw things out.

I'd like the to make the gym itself a bit like the mansion in Resident Evil, or the castle in Resident Evil 4, though of course, it would be significantly smaller in size and scope.
Alternately, the gym could be a haunted ship in the harbor.

My gym would be themed around the dark, much like Morty's in HGSS. Players are made to navigate a fairly straightforward maze, and at certain points around the maze there are large bells. When you interact with the bell, the bell will ring, lighting up the gym for a few seconds. The player is unable to move while the bell is ringing, and the player has to either guess, or go from what they remember.

Gym trainers largely use bat pokemon and other mons suited for the dark.

My team is all 'mons that are either adapted to life in the dark, or ones that make their own light.

It's a postgame gym where you're only allowed to use shiny pokemon. Gymleader has a gengar, haxorus, garchomp, and mega gyarados.

When you beat the leader, you get a crystal ball. It's a special pokeball that always has a 100% against shinies. So basically a masterball, but specifically for shinies. And like the masterball, you only get one.

As for expanding on the original gimmick, I guess what you would do is be given a headset item that you would equip in the gym and then you would go in to first person mode and solve a maze that way, fighting trainers along the way.

My gym would be a maze full of shin height coffee tables, and a smoke machine constantly running to juuuuussssstttt the right height as to make them invisible. Also, at random points in the gym, there are treadmills leading to further coffee tables, and jump scare sort of things everywhere.

Also, there's no fast track out of the gym, so when you beat me (or even better, lose) you have to walk the entire maze back to the entrance.

That's one thing I wish I could change about Pokemon. When Gen 3 came around it was alright to have a new set of teams, nothing too great but it was different. Then Team Galactic happened and it stopped being interesting. I know pokemon is not known for its plot but do they really need to include this in every game?

Why not go up against some mega corp like Sylph Co? At least that'd be an interesting reversal. Hell, they could just stop tying in the team subplots with the legendary pokemon. It worked for Colosseum.

Yeah, I mean, I've liked every installment in the main series, I think they keep adding so much neat shit (though often they abandon some particularly neat shit that I like), but the teams became very uninteresting and dumb after Gen3.

I would be an optional defunct gym, like the fighting dojo. I run 6 metronome mons. I could only be challenge by another team of metronome only mons. Items are disabled, both held items and bag items. Someone in the same town will teach Metronome to any mon for free. If you win, you get a Metronome Clefable holding a Metronome. Upon rematch it alternates what type of battle it is: doubles, triples, inverse, sky, etc. each time handing out a new mon upon victory.
