GameFreak can't make it without Sega.

There's a concept called "Work For Hire." It's also why Bayonetta can't be made without Sega and how Enix has to sign off on anything involving Marina Liteyears despite Treasure.

They ARE getting back into the platformer game, though. Tembo the Badass Elephant looks kind of awesome.
