I haven't done much competitive battling since the start of Gen 5. I really want to get back into the meta, and am considering a Rain team after seeing Mega Swampert. My question is, who would work better with Thunder; Jolteon or Galvantula?

Easily Compound Eyes Galvantula, you'd want Thunderbolt for Jolteon.

Jolteon. It's faster and stronger, what's not to love? I think Galvantula might have a bit more coverage, but Jolteon works better in general.

Weather just isn't that viable anymore like in Gen 5 because of the auto-abilities being nerfed, but if you still want to make one by all means that's your decision.

Thunder + Compound Eyes Galvantula works really well even under normal circumstances, but I've had better luck running Swarm + Bug Buzz because of the power boost (and it has a sash for a reason after getting Sticky Web out on the field).

You want to use Galvantula, since it has access to Giga Drain.

Bug Buzz/HP Ice/Volt Switch

Or even replace Giga Drain or Sticky Web for one of the slashed moves. Rain is still a force to be reckoned with in OU, don't let these other posters give you the wrong idea.

Jolteon is all bark and no bite, you'd be better off with Raikou since it's a bit slower but hits harder and has more bulk.

Rain is still very viable, even with losing permanent weather. Swift Swim+Drizzle being legal gives you options for powerful Swift Swimmers like Specs Kingdra or Life Orb Kabutops.
And plenty of OU mons appreciate rain's effects. Fucking Ferrothorn is annoying as shit in rain.

jolteon has same coverage its(except no giga drain like galv) preferences mainly

But in all honesty if you can get your hands on a raikou its better

(If you didnt already have a Mega )
