Can we just talk about what a fucking retarded move beat up is?

Here's this multihit move that debuts in gen II. Two pokemon get it, they both get STAB on it, but it does typeless damage so they can't get the bonus. It also bases its power off the attack stat of each pokemon in the party. One of the two users, Houndour is primarily a special attacker and doesn't benefit from it, the other user sneasel gets swords dance yet Beat Up doesn't count stat boosts.

Through out the generalized generations GameFreak has constantly tried to fix Beat Up, in gen V they've fixed it so it now does dark type damage and grants STAB, and its power is now all calculated by the user's stats and the teammates only decide the base power.

But beat up calculates power like this. Eaxh Each hit is equal to the pokemon's base power / 10 + 5. So in order for every hit of beat up to do 120 damage (the same as double edge/old hydro pump/old thunder etc. And 5 bp less than other multihit moves hitting 5 times) you'd need all 6 of your pokemon healthy and they'd all have to have a base attack of at least 150. And then it's all downhill from there if a single pokemon faints or gets statused.

What is the point of a multihit move with conditional power if there's basically no conditions for it to outshine other multihit moves?
