Generally the best starter trio for sure. In every other game there is 1 starter I pick over the other 2 except 3. They're all so good.

This. Only barely tied with first gen starters because nostalgia, but otherwise I'd take those three over any of the other regions starters.

I regret having Sceptile, bit the bullet and boxed him after Wallace. I even stopped Treeko from evolving instantly to get Giga Drain but it just under-performed the whole time. Its Mega could barely 1-shot anything and kept getting 1 or 2-shotted back.

Treecko and Grovyle are my favorite 1st and 2nd stage in Hoenn, but Swampert is my favorite Pokemon, so not picking Mudkip always feels wrong.

Generally, I'd go with Mudkip, but I grabbed Torchic in AS and things are going well.

The best group of starters by far. I've played with all of them before so it really doesn't matter. Swampert is playing the game easy mode, Blaziken is good in-game and Sceptile is fine too. Overall, I'd rate the starters by Generation:
