but then smogon themselves have some pretty scrubby opinions and ideas

pokemon is inherently flawed as a competitive game. no amount of custom rulesets will change that, you either just have to accept it for what it is (terrible) or make your own game and mechanics

Competition shouldn't have so many luck based variables

It's fun battling, but when you travel across the country for a competition just to have the RNG fuck you sideways, that's bs.

Purely competitive Pokemon doesn't exist. It's 60% planning/teambuilding, 40% luck.
