It kinda feels bad to see others liking a generation so much that i missed on. and with all the shit the remakes are getting it feels even more like a missed chance. gen 4 is pretty friendly to start in though. everything's so... inviting. from the physical/special split to the tutorial in shadows of almia, it seemed like they were really trying hard to expand on the world. n retrospect, i'm guessing this is why i enjoyed it so much. it also had the biggest post-game, and the introduction of internet connectivity, improved with the wifi plaza. i don't get the sense of that in other games, but that's because they too have other themes, at least that's what i think. gen 5 let people have a fresh start, and was in a way like gen 4's "inviting" atmosphere, only kept it smaller to create a safer feeling as opposed to a friendly one. i don't think i've pinpointed gen 6's yet, but it seems like appreciation, to others, nature, history, etc. and as such don't focus much on the expanse of the world like previous ones, but the simple things.
There's just something about pokemon games. i don't even think i'll ever be able to successfully describe it words, but they really do seem more than a game. i've probably delved off topic of my original response, but it's so rare we get to discuss such things here, i couldn't help it.
