Whoa man. I got 6k left. What team did you all use because he sucks. Thinking M-Lucario is not the way to go because the blocks keep me from lining it up sideways. Mawile is level 5 with 60 power, Blastoise is level 3 with 66, thinking of getting him to level 5 then trying with him.

15 is rounded down to 7 for an S rank I believe so if the half is a .5(In this case 7.5) they stick with the odd one. Time it's always half. Move +5 just helps you get S ranks because even though you have an extra 5 moves the S rank requirement remains the same.

I under-fucking-estimated Mega Gengar vefore this Safari event.

It's a monster in 3-mons stage, but I didn't think it would be so good in common 4-mon stages too. It megaevolves so fast, it's the reason I S-ranked M-Aero and Drilbur (bursting only a moves+5 for each)

Genesect on the other hand was a bitch. Luckily, home button trick made me clear it with 30 seconds left, granting me 100% catch rate with a Great Ball.

Now, to get the fucking Carvanha.

I had the same problem with Cherrim, saw it one time then it disappeared for 2 days. Next time I saw it I forked out for the great ball even though it cut into my float. But then I guess that's what a float is for. That finished my safari experience

It's the number of turns available in the game.
The whole system is all charted out in other threads.
But yes, use Amphy or Buneary if you're levelling electric/flying mons. Or use Buneary if you just wanna bust out 5 hearts of grinding in 10 minutes, if time is more of an issue to you than available hearts.

Ok, what the hell. At the very beginning of the event, I saw a Sharpedo, but my team sucked, I finished on the last turn, and I thought I'd see it again soon enough, so I didn't even bother great-balling.

After 60 turns, I not only didn't see it again, I didn't see Cherrim once. So I started keeping track of my encounters from that point on.

After the first 60, I've gone on safari 52 times. My encounters were
3 Cherrims (Thank god)
18 Cherubis
19 Carvanhas
12 Spindas
Absolutely no Sharpedos.

0% encounter rate after I started keeping track. With a rate of less than 1% if we count what happened before recording them (this would also drop Cherrim's encounter rate down to below 2%)

What the hell are the devs thinking? That we're gonna spend money on hearts for an encounter rate of less than 1%? People are stupid, but come on.

This goes beyond absurd.

With that said,the percentage of times you've encountered it is not equivalent to the probability of meeting it. The encounter rate for Sharpedo is something like 5%, which means that every time you use a heart you have a 5% chance of finding a Sharpedo. Based on this you may expect that out of 100 encounters you would run into an average of 5 Sharpedos, but this is not indicative of an exact number of how many encounters you will actually have in those 100 encounters. You could encounter 3 Sharpedos, 10 Sharpedos, or no Sharpedos at all.

With that said, I'm glad I got all my Safari Mons for this week. Cherrim was the one who kept dodging me. You should make sure you have cash for a Great Ball if you do run into Sharpedo.

Only met these guys once, before I knew why were they so special.

Back to shuffle; I've met Sharpedo only once, and that guy was balls-to-the-wall with a 3-block distruption every other turn. I wasn't prepared for it.
Now, with Gengar/Xerneas/Genesect (lv. 7/6/5), I doubt it'll escape again. That is, if I ever meet him again.

Yes, I'm aware of that. I'm also aware that the sample size is nowhere close to being a proper representation. None of that really changes the fact that the rates are set so low, this is an outcome that is happening for many people.

I got an S rank by using M-Aero + mega start + 5 moves. It's ability breaks up to 10 blocks which is great for building combos, reducing the amount of blocks that keep spawning and clearing the initial blocks the stage starts you off with.

That's because of events which count towards caught, but not stages. You probably got Groudon, Kyogre, Keldeo, or Raquaza. Not sure if the Rotoms count toward the total or not.

They should also make abilities 'better' if you match more Pokemon. Like Block Bash removes 2 blocks for a match of 4.

Also, if you match two different types pokemon the only Skill that activates is the one of the pokemon you moved. Mega effects don't count as a Skill being used so you can activate a non-Mega pokemon Skill by swaping the non-Mega with the Mega but still get the Mega effect after the Skill activates. Really helpful if you're trying to get extra damage in and/or clear the board.

One hell of a coincidence happened, but first, a little story.

Back in the beginning of 2009, I was playing a little game you MIGHT have heard of: Persona 4. Yeah, probably not ringing any bells. Anyway, because I'm crazy, I was trying my hand at the infamous Kaiwan trick. It wasn't working. After who-knows-how-many dozen tries, I decided to actually keep a list of the failures... sound familiar, right? I decided after the hundredth failure, I'd post the list of outcomes on a message board... only for the exact 100th recorded try got me the desired result.

Fast forward to now. After 60 attempts at the safari, I started keeping a list to get a rough representation of the rates.
Take a fucking guess when Sharpedo finally decided to show his ugly face. Try Number One Fucking Hundred.

The asshole ate two of my Great Balls, but i'm done. Soooooooooo done.

(And yes, I know the pic only shows half the list, I don't care)

For anyone who hasn't s-ranked milotic this team plus +5 moves/disruption delay/mega start makes for a VERY easy S rank (I caught her with a 87% catch rate).

Xerneas, Slowbro and Sigilyph are Lv.MAX. Mewtwo is Lv. 9 and Slowking is Lv. 8, I will S rank it without items. And yes Timburr is (with the exception the Weekend Meowth and Celebi) the only stage I've played in the past 6 days.

So far i've gotten both mega stones. That doesn't change the fact that I fucking hate these live competitions and they're annoying as fuck. I'd rather it be you beat the level you get the stone. Make it just like any other expert stage. Beat it within the time limit and you get the stone. Don't beat it in the days the event is going on you don't get it.

How far can you get without spending coins on the main stages? Just trying to save my coins for the next comp, have all the EX Stage pokemon (except Mewtwo and Genesect) and S-ranked everything except the Megas up till Gengar.

Trying to beat it with M-Gengar, Yvetal, Zoroark and Haunter but can't seem to get more than 6 turns left. Also can't get Zoroark any better than a B.

Just hope another comp starts soon, preferably a Bug type like Scizor or Heracross.

And yes Zoroark is one of the hardest non-mega stages, you need Disruption Delay.

You NEED two psychic in addition to Mega Mewtwo, MM2 fizzle too often otherwise.
Another tip is to avoid procing Mewtwo's swap as it will fuck up the pregened section between the bars, which you need to clear in 0-1 moves (2 moves is pushing it and anymore than that and the attempt has basically failed).

I trained my all dark team of Sableye, Absol, Zoroark, and Yveltal to MAX before I ever attempted Mega Gengar (knowing I'd soon be up against M Gengar, then M Mewtwo, then Mewtwo).

I A-ranked M Gengar on my first try without items. However, it took me 14 tries before C-ranking Mewtwo without items.

I knew he, and others, were bad, so I prepared ahead of time.

Earlier in the thread the stage data for the Pinsir level was posted. It's Special Stage number 002, where event mons like Groudon usually go. The Safari Pokemon are all in the 020s.

They are part of the system like eShop and Settings, best you can do is hide them in a folder.

It shows up in data management for me, Maybe it's because you haven't actually downloaded it, Try opening it and see if it give you an option to remove the icon there.

Damn, you weren't kidding. Kept dropping full six-mon columns of Xerneas. Easy S rank. Now all I need is the S on Mega-Aero. Any idea which mega is best? I've heard people say gengar, aero himself, luke, blastoise, and slowbro. My gengar is max level but I feel a super-effective mega might be better. Aero's mega ability seems perfect for the stage but will it do enough damage? Rest of the team is gonna be sceptile, kyogre and groudon as I believe they have the best combination of power and useful abilities.

What would probably be the best combo for upcoming Mega Banette?

Mega gengar, Yveltal and Zoroark are given, but there are oh-so-few ghosts and darks that 4th slot is still open.

With this said, Absol (Mind Zap) and Sharpedo (Eject) are good candidates, depending on how the stage gets shaped. Banette itself doesn't look bad, seeing that I'll need to grind it regardless if I plan on using the megastone (but Mega Boost as ability seems underwhelming). Mightyena doesn't even look bad, to have a Sinister Combo with Zoroark...

What to do?
