>>23302343The concept behind Plasmanta made absolutely no sense. It started as something like "your opponent will regret for KOing this pokemon" BUT they deliberately avoided giving it something Aftermath because it was "too obvious and we couldn't learn anything new this way". Multiple users have pointed out that in this game KOing a pokemon is *always* a favorable scenario for any player in any circumstance, but they wouldn't listen.
So they changed it into this dumb sacrifical pawn concept without giving it moves like Explosion or Memento, again because they couldn't learn anything new this way.
The idea was to let something like Mamoswine KO it so Mega Gyarados could set up, except anyone with more than a brain cell would just switch out.
Plasmanta is a cool pokemon, but the concept failed badly.
