>>23302795I wouldn't say Ice type is bad, per se. It's just that it's the quintessential offensive type. It's meant to wreck shit, not take hits.
>>23302774Now, I'm a frostfag that uses ice/frost element religiously in every RPG I play, so my word is biased as fuck. That said, here are some pointers from one Ice lover to another:
As much as I hate having to dedicate a moveslot to Rapid Spin, you'll need it or you're going to get wrecked by Stealth Rock, and most Ice types are vulnerable to the other hazards, too. Cryogonal and Avalugg are both capable spinners, each with huge bulk on either side, Recover, and good offensive power. Cloyster is a good spinner too, but I prefer using him as a dedicated sweeper.
I'm a karenfag who loves Articuno, and it can be of some use as it's pretty bulky and hits reasonably hard with Hurricane and Freeze Dry/Blizzard. He also learns Defog.
Make sure to include at least one of Lapras and Walrein, as their Water typing, bulk, and abilities really help defensively.
Cloyster and Rock Polish Aurorus are powerful sweepers, and can both plow through Substitutes with Icicle Spear and Hyper Voice (boosted and iceyfied by Refrigerate), respectively.
Abomasnow is always great at setting up hail for Blizzard and Snow Cloak abuse. He's also good at killing the water types that any team mates not using Freeze Dry have trouble with. On that note, Freeze Dry is a great move for coverage, and should always be used over Ice Beam if it can be learned, as water types are fucking everywhere.
Mamoswine is probably one of the best offensive pokemon in the game, with its STAB combination having the most super-effective coverage of all, huge attack power, priority, Stealth Rock, and 2 great abilities that keep it alive and kicking ass for longer. Thick Fat is probably best to keep them flamers from ruining your day. Also, he's a mammoth, thus is required in anything themed around frost.
