It has been decided that they will remake the original anime series (Kanto, Orange Islands and Johto) in modern style. Although the bulk of the series and general plotline must remain the same/very similar to that of the original run, you have been allowed to make a few creative control changes.

What are some of these?

If Ash becomes Johto champion, then Pidgeot will return.

I'll also give genwunshipping a better ending than just "goodbye" (maybe even state that Misty has a Gym to look after while Ash must keep traveling or something along those lines).

Have Ash win his Kanto badges fairly. No releases except Butterfree and Lapras (the only fitting ones).

Also Johto would be a hell of a lot better with all the bullshit filler removed and Misty would be written like she was in Kanto.

Ash battles Giovanni instead of Team Rocket, and he doesn't battle Mewtwo.
There are more episodes dedicated to Brock becoming a Pokemon Breeder, and there are more episodes of Ash, Misty and Brock catching and training Pokemon.

Even though Misty got Togepi in Kanto, her personaltiy didn't start to truly die until shortly after Johto started. Even in Orange Islands she was still fine.

Kanto is mostly the same but Pidgeot is never released, instead Ash catches Fearow.

Orange Islands are mostly the same except Squirtle evolves, Misty leaves at the end because while Togepi marked the downfall of her character Johto was the lowest she sank.

For Johto Ash travels there with just Pikachu like in Hoenn onwards meaning no forced goodbyes for Charizard and Wartortle, Crystal replaces Misty since this would be a modern revisit. Ash's Johto Pokémon get more attention resulting in Cyndaquil and Phanpy evolving in Johto. When the league comes around Primape gets the big comeback return and then stays at Oak's.

In all of them most filler is removed.

The only 'pity badge' he got was from Brock, and it was ASH who was doing the pitying. He stopped the battle because he didn't want to hurt Onix any further, and because the sprinklers gave him an unfair advantage. Brock gave him the badge because he showed that he really cares for pokemon. True, he didn't get a lot of them with battling, but he got them because he actually helped the gym leader. He saved all the pokemon in cerulean gym from Team Rocket, so they gave him a badge (that, and he had an electric type, so they knew he would've won anyway) He risked his own life just to save Erika's Gloom, so she gave him a badge as thanks. Sabrina was sort of a bullshit one, but fuck it, if Ash can lose because his pokemon fell asleep or stopped listening to him, then it's only fair that he can win because his opponent started laughing and was literally unable to battle. He also helped her get her emotions back, so there's that, too.

Is this with the idea that it is now a self contained story? As in it ends at Johto? If that's the case, Ash should win the league. Primeape should return, and Pidgeot should never leave at all.

>Never actually fought Giovanni, and Team Rocket cheated, but he still won the fight so I guess he earned it

That's still two badges where TR interrupts and two where he leaves the fight unfinished.

Ash starts fighting Koge, Venonat evolves. Venomoth seems to be winning until Team Rocket attacks. After Psyduck tells them to fuck off, Koga and Ash resume their match with Koga using Golbat. Ash defeats it.

Although Ash did not defeat both of Koga's Pokémon, if we count Round 2 as a 1v1 match, then Ash won legitimately.
