Help me build a team around Gengar? New to this whole competitive thing. I have these three so far.
For a Mega, I'm considering Mega Scizor. So it can Defog stuff, but an SD set would be cool too.

I just wished UU used the same ban system as all the other tiers. Because who knows, maybe the presence of other pokemon from BL in UU would adequately manage salamence. It's a backwards system that only pits one of the suspects against UU without considering how it could potentially interact with other suspects, and it front loads bans so nothing near the bottom of UU that could trickle down gets to enter RU. I mean the concept of fluid tier lists governed by usage with limited dictating of what goes where falls apart when they have different methods of regulating.

Better than NU being full of bulky grass types.

I've been using subCM chandy a lot in UU and as long as I can get Tspikes up it's been working okay.

of course I'm like 1250. I have no idea how this fucking game works or how I "git gud".

OK, I replaced Taunt with Focus Blast, so I have WoW for Bisharp. That accuracy makes me uneasy, but that's alright.

Sludge wave is an event move that may conflict with some moves. If you can ran sludge wave though run it. Stronger and will stop the rare chesnaught from walling you with bulletproof.

I remember a really interesting RMT that went high on the ladder last gen that involved a CM user coupled with rocky helmet ferrothorn+garchomp. It was kinda neat but I doubt it would be much good now that Volt Turn isn't prominent.

I also decided to add a Life Orb Breloom onto the team. +2 Sucker Punch is not a OHKO, and he has to win a speed tie plus predict if I will Spore or not to boot.
I now have four Pokemon very weak to Thundurus, so I think balk (mega) sciz will work out. Would a good set be SD / Roost / Knock Off / BP? The upside is that it can deal with Thundurus, but the downside is that I'll have to have my sixth Pokemon be hazard removal.

This is bullshit tbh. Sludge wave doesn't conflict with any nature. It was available during dream world last gen. Unless you're planning on running icy wind you have nothing to worry about.

Rocky Helmet Garchomp is really popular at the moment regardless of how mcuh voltturn is getting used. Ability to switch in on a Lop fake out and rack up a good 25% damage is handy as fuck. It mostly sees use on offensive teams to get rocks and help handle pjysical stuff you only have shaky checks for.

if someone switches a scizor in on a gengar they're probably going to pursuit you and that's where you focus blast, that said it could just be a bluff. Sub life orb is a pretty good lure/scout for sucker punch on sciz for gengar.

Pursuit Bisharp is uncommon. I think he KOs you with knock off even after being burned so WoW gengar is just this massive gamble centered on predicting knock off versus sucker punch and responding appropriately. You're better off just running something like Keldeo. Gengar is a cool and powerful pokemon but it's hardly a win condition you can build a team around.

I'm running a mixed Mega Absol on cart and has worked wonders on the physically attacking side, but I can't figure out the best special move to use. I have Knock Off, Sucker Punch, and Play Rough. Out of these options, which is the best option?

The aegis meta is hilarious because i can donk low ladder faggies with kings shield/bisharp fiddy fiddys. It's p bad objectively though, i mean i liked aegis back in the day because i could splash it on every team, but that pretty much proves how overpowered it is. It checks alot, which is nice, but i didn't have the feeling that those things (mgard, mcham, mhera) were inherently broken after its ban, i think the meta should be fine without aegislash. Only banning kings shield would be a retard move though.

I put Superpower on for Blissey, but in retrospect it's not enough of a deterrent without Life Orb. U-turn would let me switch Chandelure into Blissey for free and start setting up, plus toxic spikes already deals with her.

I guess I was just overly worried Tspikes and Chandy weren't solid enough answers for Blissey because my team is so specially oriented and I needed more raw physical force to deal with her.

Are there any huge offensive threats that tear through me? I think Mega Swampert is a problem because I'm using offensive shaymin. I was considering swapping rest for leech seed since Shaymin draws in Blissey and I have a cleric.

Just played a few matches, the only thing I've had significant trouble with was Mega Sharpedo, but luckily one of the 2 I fought wasn't running max speed and failed to outspeed Hydreigon at +2 (have no idea what he was running, probably a heavy mixed set). The other one I just barely survived an ice fang and dropped a meteor on it.

I haven't faced any scarf salamence yet so no idea if I can deal with it besides florges.

My partner and I are going to an OU smogon tournament tomorrow, and we were hoping to battle some people to kind of work out the kinks in our team because fighting each other isn't really a good way to figure out if we want to stick with it.

if you dont want a direct hard counter then you can rely on stuff like priority moves, pokemon with sashes etc

It does help to mitigate MUH MATCHUPS which has been a big focus of complaint lately, because Aegi beats so much shit that it's actually possible to make a team with a hard check to (virtually) every relevant threat now.

The problem is that the way Aegislash makes that possible is by significantly reducing the number of relevant threats because everybody runs as few things that lose to Aegislash as they possibly fucking can.

I hate to use the word overcentralizing because it's become a suspect thread buzzword but that's exactly what Aegislash is.

Every team you build in an Aegislash meta has to be specifically designed to not give it free turns, or you're gonna lose at least a mon and a half, probably more 100% of the time to it.

I mean, I've seen really competent players swept by shit like subSD Cacturne last gen because of similar "50/50" situations, but Cacturne obviously isn't some extremely powerful force. It's not even a true, purely luck based "50/50" because there's a shit ton of factors like risk versus reward, pokemon that aren't crippled by king's shield like Landorus and Bisharp, just basic prediction like analyzing their team comp, making estimates about what set it's running/role it's playing, seeing how your opponent plays etc. If you say Aegislash is uncompetitive because of King's Shield you're saying that pokemon as a fundamental concept is uncompetitive.

I like using it, don't like facing it, and its typing basically invalidates a shit ton of wallbreakers because they have to run a really specific coverage move only for it. Aegis should go because it's legitimately a massive threat, not because of some petty bitching about having to predict things.

Solar Beam in the san does like, 16% or some shit like that, and Tyranitar can OHKO straight back with Stone Edge. Hell, it can even 2KO with Crunch

See, I love the crimson crossaint. I would love to use him as a Dancing Sweeper. I have a feeling either Earthquake or Double Edge is involved (which is cool). I would love using Dragon Claw and Outrage, but it appears both of them are outclassed as of this writing.

That being said, what teammates would help him the most? I would think of using Landorus to smack shit, but he shares that devastating Ice weakness. My main goal is to kill things with just the press of a button. No Toxistall bullshit, maybe tanking, but mostly killing things.

I've tried using Bisharp, but honestly, he sucks. I was thinking of using another dragon, but alas, that leaves me vulnerable. Fairies are nearly useless except mega'd ones and Clefable.

If I must pick a different guy, is MegaLuke a good alternative or MeGar? Either way, something is bound to fall against these two. However, I wish to stick to my guns and use The Crimson Crossaint as the star of the show.

I love both of them. Alas, I worry about using Magnezone due to that 4x Earthquake weakness. alongside the dangerous Fire and Fighting weaknesses. Mamoswine I worry because he has meh bulk.

I admit that while I love killing things, I want them to stand a hit JUST once (Even if nearly dead), and then keep going. Perhaps Air Balloon on Zone may help, and Focus Sash for Mamo, of course.

Also, the bulky set looks cool! What worries me here is if anyone 4x resists Flying types. Otherwise, I'd go for it. Mayhaps replace Sub w/ a coverage move? Either way, We're playing with a Crimson Crossaint of death (which is fun!).

I haven't tested it, though I reckon other people already have. A friend asked me for serpent-y stuff, so snakes I deliver. This includes an eviolite dragonair which makes for a much better status absorber, it's just that I don't know what stops seviper more, paralysis and sleep faggotry or screens and subs. Arbok runs intimidate rather than shed skin, and with the potential aromatherapy in serperior I'm even less sure about that ability.
