Hooved animals do have nothing to do with fists, although they can deliver devastating kicks that can potentially crush skulls. And kicking is a part of a fighting technique after all. They're also based on the Musketers, so they needed an animal basis that can showcase the concept better. And hooved quadrupeds seemed to fit the bill as the designs are flexible enough to wear the shoes the fencers worn while still being able to function in combat.
Tigers/wild felines don't fit the idea of combat. All they do is pounce, slash, and tear flesh with their fangs. Isn't that more fitting for a Dark type? Who are commonly based on savage creatures/common predators?
