So for someone who doesn't really care for smogon except for when I enter a tourney that uses their rules, can you please tell me how banning King's Shield would make it "OU material"?

It has the SubToxic set which can be used, and doesn't switching out make it go back to Shield Forme?

There's a lot more things that can compete with Aegislash now, so I say it's welcome back in OU.

I actually feel like we can bring back one or two more things back if the 3rd game(s) MEvos are good too, especially if we get more Magic Bouncers.

With KS, any contact move user vs. Aegislash becomes a literal gamble. There's 4 outcomes, and all of them are equally likely. Let's use Mega Lopunny vs. Aegislash as an example.

Yes, Earthquake exists, but to 1HKO it in Shield form, you need Life Orb Excadrill's power or better.

Not everyone runs physical Aegislash. On top of that, not everyone just runs Aegislash without non-HP defensive investment. For example, my Aegislash is designed to have the biggest chance of living a neutral natured Lando-I Earth Power while having the minimum power to OHKO with HP Ice.

This guy knows what's up.

All in all, Aegislash is great to counter big threats in the tier like Mega Meta, Dian, Alta, and Gard. But by removing KS, we diminish its likelihood for it to stay in, which stands as a nuisance considering how few things can take hits from it.

Smogon already does that. Sleep clause, Swagger ban, etc. The purpose is to stabilize a meta -- this is in some ways a different game already.

Yep, although it's typically as a revenge killer, so toward the purpose of burning it, which I was replying to, it doesn't really hold it back since it usually still gets the job done.

So far, it's been serving me pretty well. I have Healing Wish on my Latias if I really need the Aegislash, but for several games I've just been using opposing Chansey as switch-in fodder for Leftovers recovery. One game I even got back Aegislash to full health after it was under 40%. All you do is come in on Chansey and start firing Shadow Ball until you're at a good amount of HP.

and that achieves what exactly? that you force it out?

well that's all great, but it took no damage from the exchange, and you have a lopunny with half its health (or more depending if you took sr damage etc) with -2 attack. so well done, you lost out in that scenario
