I think XY were designed around the revamped Exp Share somewhat, but clearly ORAS wasn't because it's so easy to unintentionally overlevel yourself if you're the kind who tries to battle most of the trainers and obtain every possible item. Still, the thing makes EV Training via hordes incredibly fast as you can just use a more powerful 'mon to steamroll them and have your weakest use a power item.
The idea of shared EXP for the whole team is not a terrible one, but it really should have split it between members instead of gaining more.
