Why does this fucker suck so much?

I finally picked up W2 super cheap so I could link all my games from gen III to gen VI and also play this game because it looked fun.
Ended up picking this guy to start and he just blows for in-game fun. As much as a meme it is to hate the otter I wish I would've picked him.

I never understand people who say "starter sucks in game". Really? I've been playing with every starter thriugh the generations and i never had any problems with any of them. Sometimes the in game odds are against one of them (Chikorita in Johto, Charmander in Kanto) but even then its nit a big deal to come up with a coverage.

Samurott isn't really much better. Emboar wasn't very flash either but still probably the best out of the lot without hidden abilities.

At least you picked the best looking base stage starter I guess, and nothing is worse than Meganium.

Just pick the starter that gives you the green monkey in the dreamyard and use the monkey instead. Fuck it they could have made the monkeys the starter trio and nobody would have complained except for the water fags.

But wouldn't everyone complain EVEN HARDER that the monkeys are literally copy+pastes of each other, if only for a few distinguishable moves?

Well the monkeys are more usefull in game and are fairly good in competitive. If they were given better HAs they'd be the perfect starter trio.

Serperior line is the first grass starter i gave up on. With Chilorota it was somehow manageable but going through pinwheel forest and then through routes after where the birds and bugs are still present and now carry stab moves, Servine was just horrible.

I restarted with Emboar, was amazed by a fire starter for the first time and never looked back

This. People always call Chikorita the worst starter but Snivy is easily the worst to me. I at least never felt the need to box Chikorita in either GSC or HGSS like I did with Snivy.

I think what makes Chikorita more tolerable is the fact that Johto is just an easier region. Yeah, it has bad matchups versus most of the gym leaders but it's saved by the fact that most wild pokemon in Johto are shitmons, most of the ingame trainers use shitmons, an easier level curve, and virtually no competition from other Grass types.

Meanwhile, Snivy is trapped in a game where the wild/trainer pokemon generally have better stats and STABs than their counterparts from earlier games, a harder level curve, and actually has some competition from other Grass types, especially in BW2 where you can pick up Roserade.

Serperior is easily the best Unova starter. Looks like a royal snake, aesthetically it looks awesome. I picked it in Black 2, and it was kind of dead weight even though I taught it Dragon Pulse. But that was in-game so it really doesn't matter.

God, the Gen 5 dex is horrible. Not only is 2/3 of it pure fucking garbage, but half of it is just carbon copies of Gen 1/2 mons (Audino, Gigalith, Swoobat, etc). Everything is just terrible.

First of all, you suck. No one here is talking about design, but if it works in-game. Second, Serperior is, easily, the worst of the trio because of gym leader matchups and its awful movepool (while Emboar have many great attacks options and Samurott could hit really hard with SD and Waterfall or special sets, Serperior heavily depends on free setups, which doesn't happen commonly in BW and BW2). Third, you are saying that the gen of power creep is full of garbage, which is a dumb joke.

Almost every battle you have to set up and use berries just to win a WILD battle
