I was about to say Wigglytuff's stats are all terrible except for great HP and middling Special Attack, but then I remembered that this is Gen I and Special hasn't been split yet, so it's also a good special defensive Pokémon. So actually, yeah, I retract Wigglytuff. Raticate goes in its place. Like the bugs, Raticate will be good in the early game, but fall short later on, although not as far as the bugs will. (It's relatively fast for this group if nothing else, and so it will get critical hits rather often thanks to Gen I crit mechanics, and it can always cut something's HP in half with Super Fang.) Butterfree can still learn Flash if you need it.
